TOPIC: ‘Up, Up and Away’
TEMA: ‘Arriba, arriba y lejos’
FS1 (Nursery) + FS2 (Reception)
The Early Years programme of the International Primary Curriculum has been specially written for young
children all over the world living in the home country or host country, and sets out clearly what children
should learn in four groups of ‘strands’ – these are called ‘Independence and Interdependence’,
‘Communicating’, ‘Exploring’, and ‘Healthy Living’.
The activities which have been planned for this topic will cover these strands in the following ways:
El programa de Educación Infantil del Currículo Internacional para Primaria ha sido elaborado
específicamente para niños pequeños de todo el mundo que viven en sus países de origen o en otros países
y establece claramente lo que los niños deben aprender en cuatro áreas: ‘Independencia e
Interdependencia’, ‘Comunicación’, ‘Exploración’ y ‘Modo de vida saludable’.

Throughout this theme the
children will have the opportunity
to take part in group activities and
to take responsibility for their own
actions when they play with a
parachute or work together to test
their own ‘flying machines’.
Durante este tema los niños
tendrán la oportunidad de
participar en actividades grupales
y responsabilizarse de sus propios
actos cuando, por ejemplo,
jueguen con un paracaídas o
trabajen juntos para probar sus
propias ‘máquinas voladoras’.
Communicating
Comunicación:
The children will have opportunities to use language in a wide variety
of contexts – for example when they describe how the soapy water
feels. They will use mathematical concepts when describing the length
of their kite’s tail.
They will be introduced to some of the processes of art and craft –
using, for example papier-mâché to make their hot air balloons.
We will sing songs and listen to stories linked to the theme.
Los niños dispondrán de oportunidades para usar la lengua en una
amplia variedad de contextos, por ejemplo, cuando describan cuál es
su sensación al tocar el agua con jabón. Usarán, además, conceptos
matemáticos al describir la longitud del cordel de su cometa, por
ejemplo.
Tomarán contacto con algunas formas de realizar manualidades,
usando, papel maché, por ejemplo, para hacer sus globos
aerostáticos.
Cantaremos canciones y escucharemos cuentos vinculados al tema.
Exploring/ Exploración:
The children will be involved in activities – blowing bubbles, watching
feathers and fabric float and fall – which will involve using their senses
to help them make sense of the world around them. They will be
encouraged to think logically and to ask questions.
Los niños participarán en distintas actividades como hacer pompas,
ver cómo las plumas o la tela flotan y cómo caen, lo cual hará que
usen sus sentidos, ayudándoles a tomar conciencia del mundo que les
rodea. Les animaremos a que piensen de forma lógica y a que hagan
preguntas.
