Title of the Story: Christmas in Prague

A. Write the summary of the story
One night just before Christmas, a woman tried to run across the border, and she was killed by
border guards, only her son survived. One day in 1995, Jan and Carol discussed about a
concert and asked her father to come with them. Finally, they went to the Oxford Orchestra.
After the rehearsal, while Carol was on the way to her hotel, she saw a man who looked very
much alike her husband and she called him but he didn’t answer and she was hit by bus and
was sent to the hospital. When she was in the hospital, she was still talking about the man on
the street. The stranger, Pavel, came to visit Carol and met his father in the hospital, and told
him the story about him and his mother; he finally realized he was the twin brother of Jan.
The old man explained why he didn’t take him to England because his grandmother hid him
in Czechoslovakia. Finally, they got a family reunion. They went on a concert together. It was
an excellent ending.
B. Write your afterthought about this story
I think the book, “Christmas in Prague”, is telling us about a warm and touching story. A
man who lost his brother and family is very pitiful, but his perseverance and independence
touches my heart deeply. If I were the leading role, I will feel very sad and without any sense
of security in my whole life. In the end of the story, they finally got a wonderful family and
warm their life.
The story tells us that life is hopeful and gives us a lot of inspiration. From now, I won’t
give up my life anymore. I know that if I do my best, I will be a winner someday. At last, pay
attention when you go across the road.
