Cintia Carol Bueno Ipiña Abstract The Chemical mechanical technique for selective removal of infected tissue of dentin caries in children under 5 years old is addressed. The objective is demonstrate the simplicity of its handling, since the product works removing selectively the infected dentin of the carious lesion, preserving the healthy tissue in its maximum, without the using of anesthesia or rotatory instruments. The technique is designed in two phases, the first one corresponds to the decayed tissue removal through the application of papacarie (papain-based) gel and the second one corresponds to the restoration with glass ionomer, due to its revitalizing and adhesive beneficial characteristics. This material called papacarie is constituted by papain, chloramine, toluidine blue, salts and thickener, whose components are capable to soften the caries as if it were butter, without affecting healthy tissues or provoking pain. Besides, it has bactericides, bacteriostatic and antiinflammatory effects, qualities that benefit the professional as well as the patient. Keywords: chemical mechanical technique, ultraconservative treatment, dentin caries, papacarie gel, glass ionomer.
