Free Gifts (?) from a Great God!!! The question has been asked many times and in many ways: “How can you truly know when a person has been truly saved?” As it pertains to “how do we do missions let´s look at the Great Commission in several locations: The most familiar is in: Matthew 28:19, 20 “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”…but there is also… Mark 16:15, 16 “And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.” …and… Luke 24:46-‐47 “and said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, 47 and that repentance and[a] forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.” And do not let us forget the vital instructions to “be witnesses” as seen in… Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” …and…. “developing and training leaders” as instructed in 2 Timothy 2:2 “and what you have heard from me in the presence
of many witnesses entrust to faithful men[a] who will be able to teach
others also.” So, when we talk about “offering the free gift of salvation” to those among whom we serve on the mission field…is it really “free”? When we speak of “free” do we really mean that man has absolutely Cuando hablamos de "gratuito" es lo que realmente quiere decir que el hombre no tiene absolutamente “nothing to do” to be saved? "nada que hacer" para ser salvo? ¿Qué dice la Palabra de Dios? What does the Word of God say? Efesios 2:8 y 9… (mostrar el pasaje en la pantalla) Ephesians 2:8, 9 “For by grace you have been saved through faith. 9 And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” …and in Romans 6:23…(as we studied together a couple of weeks ago)…”For Romanos 6:23… (mostrar el pasaje en la pantalla) the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” All throughout the Bible the “giftings of God” required action on the A lo largo de la Biblia los "dones de Dios" requiere acción en el parte de los destinatarios. Vemos esto part of the recipients. We see this in… en ... Genesis with Abraham… Exodus, Numbers & Joshua with the children Génesis con Abraham ... Éxodo, Números y Josué con los hijos de Israel cuando dijo Dios que iban a recibir of Israel when told they were to receive the inheritance of the la herencia de la Tierra Prometida. Promised Land. Exodo 6:8 (mostrar el pasaje en la pantalla) Exodus 6:8 “I will bring you into the land that I swore to give to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. I will give it to you for a possession. I am the LORD.” Numeros 13:2 (mostrar el pasaje en la pantalla) NUMBERS 13:2 “Send men to spy out the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the people of Israel. From each tribe of their fathers you shall send a man, every one a chief among them.” Josué 1:1 a 3 (mostrar el pasaje en la pantalla) Joshua 1:1-‐3 “After the death of Moses the servant of the LORD, the 2 LORD said to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' assistant, “Moses my servant is dead. Now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, into the land that I am giving to them, to the people 3 of Israel. Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given to you, just as I promised to Moses.”
Therefore, we are talking about “taking possession” of the gift Por lo tanto, estamos hablando de "toma de promised…. posesión" del regalo prometido. In other words…becoming the owner... En otras palabras… “convirtiéndose en el propietario”…el dueño… Luke spoke of this in the life of the individual believer when he said in… Acts 17:11 “Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.” y… The privilege and true understanding comes when we truly grasp this passage… John 15:16 “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.” Therefore, we should be asking ourselves…”How is this really going to happen when we serve among a people group only a few days a year?” Let’s review the initial passages of Scripture we read at the Beginning of this message: Matthew 28:19, 20 “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”…but there is also… Mark 16:15, 16 “And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.” …and… Luke 24:46-‐47 “and said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, 47 and that repentance and[a] forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.”
