Heart Rate Variability (HRV) as Early Marker of Multiple Organ Dysfunction Syndrome (MODS) in Septic Patients. Pontet J., Contreras P., Curbelo A., Medina J., Noveri S., Bentancourt S., Migliaro E.R. Departamento de Fisiología. Facultad de Medicina. Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos, Hospital Pasteur, Montevideo, Uruguay Organs are coupled among themselves. Uncoupling could lead to MODS. Our goal was to detect if HRV values measured in 39 septic patients without MODS, allowed the prediction of the future development of this syndrome. The table shows the HRV values according to posterior evolution of patients. LF was the best predictor of MODS (ROC curves cutoff point: 18 m 2 ). This index may be an early marker of the risk for MODS development. Your questions, contributions and commentaries will be answered by the authors in the Clinical Cardiology list.
