mas tiempo que vida (more time than life).... photo by Veronica Paiz Created by Veronica Paiz The Day of the Dead El Dia de los Muertos Ofrenda Exhibit November 1, 2003 - December 11, 2003 Casa de Unidad Cultural Arts Center ^ El Día de los Muertos (November 1-2) is a hybrid of pre-colonial native Mexican and Spanish Catholic practices, combining the solemnity of a holy day with the humor of an enormous party. As a means to connect the living with the memory of their departed loved ones, families decorate gravesites or build altars in their homes using photographs, special breads, candies and other foods, as well as decorations in the shapes of tombstones, flowers, skulls, and skeletons. The ofrenda is designed to reflect those things most enjoyed by the family's loved one during their life. ^ GALERÍA CASA DE UNIDAD 1920 Scotten Street ~ Detroit www.casadeunidad.org Exhibit on Display: November 1, 2003 - December 11, 2003 Open House: Saturday, November 1, 2003 (12 p.m. - 5 p.m.) Sunday, November 2, 2003 (12 p.m. - 6 p.m.) Monday, November 3, 2003 (9 a.m. - 7 p.m.) Tuesday, November 4, 2003 (9 a.m. - 7 p.m.) Reception with Artist: Saturday, November 1, 2003 (5 p.m. - 8 p.m.) Created by Veronica Paiz mas tiempo que vida (more time than life)....
