4th Sunday of Lent
“No longer was there manna for the Israelites, who that year ate of the yield of the land of Canaan.” (Joshua
5:12)
Over the forty years that the Israelites journeyed through the desert, God provided them with
manna to eat. As soon as they were able to enjoy the fruits of the Promised Land the manna ceased.
Likewise, God’s blessings to us may change over the years but it is important to trust that God will
always provide us with all that we need.

5th Sunday of Lent
For his sake I have accepted the loss of all things and I consider them so much rubbish, that I may gain
Christ…” (Philippians 3:8)
The first commandment says that we shall not put other gods before the Lord. Detaching ourselves
from material possessions and considering them ”rubbish” does just that. It strengthens our
relationship with Jesus and allows us to live more freely and joyfully.

Palm Sunday
“I tell you, Peter, before the cock crows this day, you will deny three times that you know me. “ (Luke 22:34)
How many times have you heard someone make a disparaging comment about Jesus or the Catholic
faith? How do you react? Do you remain quiet not to cause a disturbance or worst yet, because you
don’t want your friends or family to think negatively about you? Pray for the courage to speak up
and enter into a respectful dialogue.

“He went about doing good and healing all those oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.” (Acts 10:38)
On this Easter Sunday, allow Jesus to fill your mind, body and soul. Pray for guidance on how to
live your life, open your heart to those in need and give thanks to God for all that He has given you.

“Jesus said to them again, ‘Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.’”

JOHN
Peace – the first gift of the risen Lord. Just as Jesus sent the apostles out into the world to share His
peace and Good News, so too, He sends us. As disciples of Jesus, we are called to be grateful and
generous. We should look for opportunities to share His peace with our brothers and sisters not
only within our local parish boundaries, but outside of them as well. In giving, you will receive the
peace of Christ.

3rd Sunday of Easter
“Peter was distressed that Jesus had said to him a third time, ‘Do you love me?’ and he said to him, ‘Lord, you
know everything; you know that I love you.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Feed my sheep.’” JOHN 21:17
All of us are challenged to show our love for Jesus by “feeding His sheep.” Through prayer ask God
how you should best use your time, talent and treasure to assist those who are in need. Remember
that giving is an act of worship and helps advance the mission of our parish and greater Church.

“The disciples were filled with joy and the Holy Spirit.” ACTS 13:52
Because the disciples heard Our Lord’s call, they were able to spread the Gospel message with
strength and vitality. We, too, can experience that same joy if we take time to open our hearts, listen
to God, ask for His direction and allow the Holy Spirit to guide our lives and our decisions.

“I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one
another." JOHN 13:34
It is easy to love someone when they love us back. But it takes courage to love someone when we
feel unappreciated, used or feel our opinion doesn’t matter. It takes courage to “love my neighbor”
when he may be someone I don’t like, someone I don’t know or someone who doesn’t look like me.

Our limited human understanding cannot begin to understand the immense power of God. Instead
of trusting in God, we think we can control every outcome. Do you want to make God laugh? Tell
Him your plans. The next time worry, anxiety or fear creeps in, thank God for all He has given you
and trust He has a better plan for you.

This is a reminder of how we should live our lives 24 hours a day, 7 days a week – putting God first
in all that we do. Not only when I am at Mass and parish activities, but when I am in the world, at
work or at school. Living gratefully and generously is a lifestyle, it’s how I make all my decisions.

The materialism of our society lures us to concentrate more on what we want than on what God
wants for us. The relativism of our world tells us that we should be tolerant of all things, that there
is no absolute truth. Pray to the Holy Spirit to put the right words in our mouths when challenged
about our faith.

Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to help us know and live the truth. To prepare ourselves, we need to open
our hearts to receive this gift before we can give it. Develop a daily prayer routine to ask the Holy
Spirit to help guide our thoughts and actions.

The story of the Loaves and Fishes shows us that when we share what we have, even if it doesn’t
seem like that much, miracles can happen! Do not think that your gift is too small or
insignificant! God blesses all the gifts we offer and makes them wondrous.

“And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her and said to her, ‘Do not weep.’”
LUKE 7:13
This verse is a great reminder that the Stewardship lifestyle is one of service, putting God first and to
“love one another.” Unfortunately today, many people have “passion” for activities they enjoy their job and off-work activities. Many times our “passion” to excel is at the expense of someone
else. Maybe we need to focus on a little less passion for our individual concerns and a lot more
compassion for others.

Today’s Gospel calls us to consider how we serve God. Do we consume like the Pharisee who
simply reclines at the table and expects to be served? Or, do we contribute like the woman who
kneels before Jesus and washes His feet? Every day we must make a choice. Take or
give? Consume or contribute? Recline or serve?

“If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.” LUKE

We are not very good at “denying ourselves” in our society. Our current economic situation is
evidence of what happens when people think they can have everything they want. Jesus calls us to
set our own personal “wants” aside so that we have the resources to follow Him instead.

13th Sunday in Ordinary Time
“For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters. But do not use this freedom as an opportunity for the
flesh; rather serve one another through love.” GALATIANS 5:13
We like to celebrate the fact that we are free to “live the good life.” But Jesus calls us to a different
kind of freedom. St. Paul reminds us that Jesus sets us free so that we can serve one another, share
our gifts and promote God’s work here on earth to glorify His name and not honor ourselves.

4to Domingo de Cuaresma
"Y el maná cesó el día después que habían comido del producto de la tierra, y los hijos de Israel no tuvieron
más maná, sino que comieron del producto de la tierra de Canaán durante aquel año” (Joshua 5:12)
Durante los cuarenta años que los israelitas vagaron por el desierto, Dios les dio el maná para comer.
Tan pronto como fueron capaces de disfrutar de los frutos de la Tierra Prometida dejo de caer maná.
De la misma manera, la Bendición de Dios para nosotros podría cambiar con el transcurso de los
años, pero es importante que confiemos que Dios siempre nos dará lo que necesitemos.

5to Domingo de Cuaresma
“Por Él, por quien perdí todas las cosas, y las tengo por basura para ganar a Cristo..." (Filipenses 3:8)
El primer mandamiento dice que no podemos colocar otros dioses delante de nuestro Señor.
Cumplir esto es desprendernos de nuestros bienes materiales y considerarlos "basura”. Esto
fortalece nuestra relación con Jesús y nos permite vivir más libremente y con más alegría.

¿Cuantas veces has oído a alguien hacer un comentario despreciativo acerca de Jesús o de la fe
católica? ¿Cómo reaccionas? ¿Te mantienes callado para no causar problemas o lo que es peor,
porque no quieres que tus amigos o familiares piensen de ti negativamente? Reza para tener la
valentía de hablar e iniciar un diálogo respetuoso.

La paz- el primer regalo del Señor resucitado. Así como Jesús envió a los apóstoles al mundo a
compartir su Paz y Buenas Noticias, así también, Él nos envía a nosotros. Como discípulos de Jesús,
hemos sido llamados a ser agradecidos y generosos. Debemos buscar oportunidades para compartir
Su paz con nuestros hermanos y hermanas no solamente en los límites de nuestra parroquia, sino
también fuera de ellos. Al dar, recibiremos la paz de Cristo.

Todos nosotros somos retados a mostrar nuestro amor por Jesús "apacentando Sus ovejas." A través
de sus oraciones pídale a Dios que le indique como utilizar mejor su tiempo, talento y riquezas para
asistir a aquellos que se encuentren pasando necesidades. Recuerde que dar es un acto de adoración
y ayuda al avance de la misión de su parroquia y de la Iglesia en su conjunto.

Porque los discípulos oyeron la llamada de Nuestro Señor, fueron capaces de esparcir el mensaje del
Evangelio con fuerza y vitalidad. Nosotros también podemos experimentar la misma alegría si nos
tomamos el tiempo para abrir nuestros corazones, escuchar a Dios, pedir Su dirección y permitir que
el Espíritu Santo guie nuestras vidas y nuestras decisiones.

Es fácil amar a alguien que nos ama. Pero hay que tener valor para amar a alguien cuando nos
sentimos poco apreciados, utilizados o cuando sentimos que nuestra opinión no es importante. Hay
que tener valor para "amar a mi vecino" cuando puede ser alguien que no nos guste, alguien que no
conocemos o alguien que no se parece a nosotros.

Nuestro entendimiento humano es limitado y no puede comprender el inmenso poder de Dios. En
lugar de confiar en Dios, pensamos que podemos controlar cada resultado. ¿Quieres hacer reír a
Dios? Cuéntale tus planes. La próxima vez que la preocupación, la ansiedad o el miedo lo invadan,
dele Gracias a Dios por todo lo que Él le ha dado y confíe que Él tiene el mejor plan para Usted.

Esto es un recordatorio de cómo debemos vivir nuestras vidas las 24 horas del día, los siete días
de la semana- poniendo a Dios primero en todo lo que hagamos. No solamente cuando estoy en la
Misa y en las actividades de la parroquia, sino cuando estoy en el mundo, en el trabajo o en la
escuela. Vivir la vida con gratitud y generosamente es un estilo de vida, es como tomo todas mis
decisiones.

El materialismo de nuestra sociedad nos atrae a concentrarnos más en lo que queremos que en lo
que Dios quiere para nosotros. El relativismo de nuestro mundo nos dice que debemos ser
tolerantes en todas las cosas, que no hay una verdad absoluta. Recemos al Espíritu Santo y
pidiéndole que ponga en nuestra boca las palabras correctas cuando cuestionen nuestra fe.

Jesús envió al Espíritu Santo para que nos ayude a conocer y vivir la verdad. Para prepararnos,
necesitamos abrir nuestros corazones para recibir este don antes de poder darlo. Desarrollemos una
rutina de oración diaria para pedirle al Espíritu Santo que guie nuestros pensamientos y acciones.

Este versículo es un gran recordatorio que el estilo de vida de la Corresponsabilidad es de servicio,
poniendo a Dios en primer lugar y "amándonos los unos a los otros." Desafortunadamente hoy en
día, muchas personas tienen "pasión" por las actividades que disfrutan- su trabajo y actividades
realizadas en el tiempo libre. Muchas veces para que nuestra "pasión" se convierta en excelencia lo
hacemos sacrificando a alguien más. A lo mejor necesitamos fijar más nuestra atención en la
compasión a otras personas y menos en nuestras preocupaciones individuales.

El Evangelio de hoy nos llama a considerar como podemos servir a Dios. ¿Consumimos como los
Fariseos que simplemente se reclinaban en su mesa esperando ser servidos? O, ¿contribuimos como
la mujer que se arrodilló ante Jesús y le lavó Sus pies? Cada día debemos escoger. ¿Tomar o
dar? ¿Consumir o contribuir? ¿Ser servidos o servir?

En nuestra sociedad no somos muy buenos en eso de "negarnos a nosotros mismos". Nuestra
situación económica actual es una evidencia de lo que ocurre cuando las personas piensan que
pueden tener todo lo que quieren. Jesús nos llama a dejar de lado nuestros "deseos" personales de
manera que tengamos recursos para seguirlo a Él.

"Porque, hermanos y hermanas, habéis sido llamados a la libertad. Sólo que no toméis de esa libertad como
pretexto para la carne; antes, al contrario, servíos por amor los unos a los otros" Galateos 5:13
Queremos celebrar el hecho de que somos libres para "vivir una buena vida". Pero Jesús nos llama a
una clase de libertad diferente. San Pablo nos recuerda que Jesús nos hizo libres para que podamos
servirnos los unos a los otros, compartir nuestros dones y promover el trabajo de Dios aquí en la
tierra para glorificar Su nombre y no para honrarnos a nosotros mismos.
