The Family – Source of Holiness
All Holiness begins in the Family. Where else can we better learn to live a good Christian life? Where else do
we get more opportunities to practice the virtues? Where else do we want to be as loving, yet find it so difficult to love? This is Holy Family Sunday. We have Joseph, Mary and Jesus as our model and example of family life. If we truly model ourselves after them, we will have homes that are filled with peace and love. Our
homes will become sanctuaries, not only for parents and children, but also for Jesus who wants to live with us.
Let us pray today to the Holy Family to make our family like theirs – dwellings of prayer, peace and love. Remember
what Mother Teresa of Calcutta always said: “The family that prays together – stays together.” I love my parish family
and want it to grow Holy.

Merry Christmas from the Bazaar Committee
I imagine that most of you have already picked out the right gift
for your special someone. Most of you probably have plans for
the Holidays, looking forward to great times and lots of fun
together. As you wait these final days for Christmas and bringing in the New Year, may I give you a suggestion that could
help our Bazaar 2016 get off to a great start?
How about this, you could buy one extra gift for the Silent Auction. It could be a nice toy for a child, a handy tool for that jack
of all trades, an appliance for the home or just something that
you would love to bid on and win. I think you could find some
nice deals and sales just after Christmas or the New Year.
There is no need to wrap the item and it can be dropped off at
the Parish Office any time during working hours. Please mark
the item for Bazaar 2016 and leave your name and address, so
that I can thank you.

FAMILY LIFE
Family life is sacred, but it is not without trial. Perhaps this
is the most important message we can glean from today’s readings. If Jesus, Mary, and Joseph can trip up sometimes—can
disconnect—then we shouldn’t find it surprising when such
things happen to us as well. And parents everywhere (children,
too) can probably relate to—and take some solace in—the Gospel’s account of Mary and Joseph after Jesus explained why he
stayed behind in the temple. They heard his words, Luke tells
us, “But they did not understand what he said to them” (Luke
2:50). Amen! Nevertheless, Jesus does go back home with
them, and continues to thrive under their care.

LA FAMILIA– FUENTE DE SANTIDAD
Toda la Santidad comienza en la familia. ¿En qué otra lugar podríamos aprender una forma mejor de vivir una Vida
Cristiana.? ¿En que otro lugar tenemos más oportunidades para praticar las virtudes? ¿En qué otro lugar deberíamos ser
muy amorosos, aún asi a veces se nos hace difícil amar? Hoy es el Domingo de La Sagrada Familia. Tenemos a José,
María y Jesús como nuestro modelo y ejemplo de familia. Si verdaderamente los imitáramos, tendríamos hogares llenos de paz y
amor. Nuestras casas se convertirían en santuarios, no sólo para padres e hijos, sino también para Jesús que quiere vivir entre
nosotros. Oramos a la Sagrada Familia para que convierta nuestras familias como la suya, gente de oración, paz y amor. Recordemos lo que la Madre Teresa de Calcuta dijo siempre. “ La Familia que reza unida-permanece unida” Amo a mi familia parroquial

TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE
El primer domingo después de la Navidad celebramos la
fiesta de la Sagrada Familia. Los latinos somos un pueblo muy
unido en familia. Para nosotros es más que un pequeño grupo
compuesto de padre, madre, hijos e hijas. La familia para nosotros los latinos es un conjunto grande de abuelos, abuelas, tíos,
tías, primos, primas, compadres, comadres, suegros, suegras y
otros más además del padre, la madre y los hijos. Para los latinos una fiesta que celebra la familia de Jesús es la cosa más
natural del mundo. Extrañamente esta fiesta no es muy antigua.
En realidad es una celebración que data de comienzos de la
época moderna en el siglo XVII. Antes de estas fechas la familia de Jesús casi siempre era entendida como compuesta por
Jesús, María y Ana (la madre de María). Se daba por hecho que
José estaba por allí. Pero en el siglo XVII muchos perdieron sus
padres pues tenían que ir a las fábricas a trabajar. Por eso el
magisterio instituyó la conmemoración de la Sagrada Familia
de Jesús, María y José para recordar a los padres cristianos su
deber ante sus hijos y su esposa.
