Có lẽ không một người công giáo Việt Nam nào mà
không thuộc nằm lòng bài thánh ca trên đây của cố linh
mục Ðạo Minh, dòng thánh Giuse... Tác giả đã sáng tác
ca khúc trong giai đoạn đau thương của đất nước giữa hai
thập niên 40 - 50 và cũng như thánh Giuse, đã ra đi âm
thầm trong một cái chết vô cùng bí ẩn sau ngày thay đổi
chế độ.
Lời ca đơn sơ xuất phát từ cuộc sống lam lũ qua mọi
thời đại của người Việt Nam. Nhưng tâm tình đó lại càng
hợp với hoàn cảnh sống của người Việt Nam hơn bao giờ
hết. Với khẩu hiệu lao động là vinh quang... dường như
sau năm 1975, người Việt Nam nào cũng đã hơn một lầm
mồ hôi nhễ nhại với cây cuốc, cái cày hoặc còng lưng trên
chiếc xích lô đạp...
Trong cảnh sống đó, có lẽ ai trong chúng ta cũng cảm
thấy gần gũi với thánh Giuse, vị thánh được mệnh danh là
người công chính, nhưng đồng thời cũng là con người
thinh lặng nhất trong Phúc Âm. Có rất nhiều thứ thinh
lặng. Thinh lặng của những người câm điếc, bị trói buộc
trong bất lực tự nhiên của mình. Thinh lặng trong cô đơn
buồn chán. Thinh lặng trong căm thù oán ghét. Thinh
lặng trong khép kín ích kỷ. Thinh lặng trong kiêu hãnh
trước đe dọa, thử thách...
Thánh Giuse đã thinh lặng trong tinh thần chấp nhận
và chiêm niệm. Trong cuộc sống âm thầm tại Nagiaréth,
thánh Giuse đã thinh lặng để chiêm ngưỡng mầu nhiệm
nhập thể kỳ diệu trong con người của Chúa Giêsu. Cuộc
đời của thánh Giuse đã bắt đầu bằng một giấc mơ để rồi
tiếp tục trong một giấc mơ triền miên. Nhưng đây không
phải là một giấc mơ của mộng ảo phù du, mà là một giấc
mơ trong chiêm niệm về hiện thực...
Trong sự thinh lặng chiêm niệm ấy, từng biến cố nhỏ
của cuộc sống đã mang nặng sự hiện diện và tác động
của Thiên Chúa.
Hôm nay là ngày lao động Quốc tế. Ngày lao động
Quốc tế này gợi lại cả một quá trình tranh đấu của giới
thợ thuyền của Âu Châu vào đầu thế kỷ vừa qua. Từ
những bất công xã hội, cuộc đấu tranh của giới thợ thuyền đã làm trồi dậy phẩm giá của con người và giá trị của
sự cần lao...
Ðối với người Kitô, ngày Quốc tế lao động này gắn liền
với con người của Thánh cả Giuse, quan thầy và gương
mẫu của giới cần lao. Do đó ngày hôm nay đối với chúng
ta phải là một ngày của suy tư và cầu nguyện. Suy tư về
ý nghĩa và giá trị những công việc hằng ngày của chúng
ta. Cầu nguyện cho mọi người biết nhận ra sự hiện diện
và tác động và lời kêu mời của Chúa trong cuộc sống...

EL DON DE PAZ
Se nos ofrece una visión distinta en la segunda lectura de hoy,
una visión de la Nueva Jerusalén, "que descendía del cielo, resplandeciente con la gloria de Dios" (Apocalipsis 21:10). Si
buscamos el significado detrás de la descripción de la radiante
ciudad, vemos que la belleza mayor que se revela es la belleza de
una perfecta armonía y orden, una ciudad fundada en la fe de las
doce tribus de Israel y los doce Apóstoles, alumbrada únicamente
por la gloria de Dios.
La primera lectura y el Evangelio también van conectados a
esta descripción idealizada de la Nueva Jerusalén. En ambos leemos como la angustia y los altercados se contrarrestan con el don
de la paz. "Mi paz les doy", les asegura Jesús a sus discípulos en
la Última Cena (Juan 14:27). De acuerdo con ese don, los

TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE
Tristemente una vez que muchos latinoamericanos llegan a los
Estados Unidos es difícil regresar a sus tierras de origen, ni siquiera para visitar. Por esta razón, muchos pueblos latinoamericanos han construido santuarios a sus vírgenes y santos patrones
en tierra estadounidense. De esta manera buscan estar cerca al
suelo que les trajo a luz, que les nutrió con frutas, verduras, flores, cantos, costumbres y tradiciones.
En Miami el pueblo cubano ha construido una ermita dedicada
a la Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre, cuya capilla del Santísimo
fue bendecida en la fiesta de la Ascensión del Señor. Debajo de
su altar principal se guarda una piedra hecha con tierra de las
distintas provincias de Cuba. Es bello el hecho, porque de esta
manera todo cubano que se acerca al altar del Señor puede estar
cerca de su terruño aunque sea solo por un momento.
Que hay en la tierra que nos llama tanto a nosotros los latinos.
Será que el libro del Génesis tiene razón, Dios forma toda persona del polvo y el corazón latino anhela la tierra de la que fue sacado.
