Dear Parishioners,
Today we celebrate the conclusion of the Easter season with the beautiful Feast of Pentecost. In
a sense, this feast is the original Mission Sunday because the Apostles and disciples of Christ became
intensely aware of their responsibility to proclaim Christ in word and deed.
Today is a celebration of the unity of the Church with all its diversity. The gospel of Christ can
be lived and proclaimed in different cultures.
Our own Diocese of Brooklyn is home to so many cultures and languages and the personnel of
its parishes try their best to preach the gospel and communicate as the Apostles did on that first
Pentecost. Our prayer today is that the Holy Spirit will make all of us ardent yet gentle stewards of our
Baptism and Confirmation.
Today, as announced last Sunday, we will offer all the donations in the poor boxes for the relief
of the Survivors of the earthquake in Ecuador.
Today, our candidates for the Sacrament of Confirmation will make their commitment at the
10:30am Mass.
Next Sunday, May 22nd, we will celebrate the First Eucharist of many of our youngsters at the
6:30pm Mass on Saturday, and the 12:00pm Mass on Sunday.
Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, on 15th Avenue and 72nd Street, will host the pilgrim statue of
Our Lady of Fatima on this coming Thursday. Check this issue of the bulletin for more particulars.
The B4 bus on 75th Street stops on 15th Avenue and is convenient to the church.
The Annual Catholic Appeal is creeping along. If you were not able to participate in
Generations of Faith last year, you might consider a pledge/gift to this year’s Appeal. All gifts of
whatever amount are appreciated.
Let’s pray for good weather for the First Communicants next week.
Let’s pray for each other,
Msgr. Kevin Noone

“Homecoming Celebration”
As noted in Msgr. Kevin Noone’s recent letter in the bulletin Our Lady of Angels will kick off
a year-long observance of our being a community of Faith on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at
12:00pm Mass
We are looking for parishioners who are willing to work on various committees. This means
present and former parishioners. All are welcome to come home and be a part of the planning process
and celebration.
Also, if you know anyone who would like to be contacted regarding our celebration, please
contact Ann O’Brien (718) 680-1646 or [email protected] or Pam Hume (718)748-1384.
If you wish to donate to the celebration please call Msgr. Kevin Noone at 718-836-7200.
Thank you.
