 Hello​ SUPER​ ​First Grade​ Parents and Students, We are looking forward to this new school year. There are a lot of new things to be
learned and new friends to be made this school year!
Our goal for this year is to help your child to be an independent and responsible
learner, as well as, to show him or her how to make responsible choices. In order
to accomplish this goal, there will be (light) regular homework and we will be
making the most of our class time. Our expectations for our First Grade students
this year will be high. As a learning family, we will ​ALL​ need to work hard and do
our very best every day.
Please, read over the next few pages with your child. These pages will outline the
classroom policies, discipline, and answer some questions you may have about the
school year. Be sure you talk about what is in the packet with your child. The last
page will need to be signed by both the student and parent and returned to your
child’s homeroom teacher no later than Friday, August 27th

that both the parent(s) and student(s) know and understand the rules,
consequences, and expectations for this year.

What do you need to bring to school?
All students should have a backpack. This makes transporting school
supplies and homework easier. The students may also bring a water
bottle. The bottle ​must have a lid that seals tight​ (we prefer to not have
sports caps, they are noisy and tend to not get shut properly) and it ​must
be transparent​. If the bottle does not meet these requirements, it may not
be used in class and will be sent home. Water is the only thing that can be
brought in the bottle. If your child wishes to bring personal items from
home, we strongly encourage you to write your child’s name on it. This
will prevent mix-ups and trades. Please be advised that toys are not
permitted at school.

On our class page, you will find upcoming events/updates, book order due
dates, and homework assignments. There are also links to educational and
age-appropriate games. Check the site often to keep up-to-date on
announcements and homework.
Rewards​
Rewards will be given for various reasons throughout the week. The first
regular reward, which will be given weekly (Friday or Thursday on a
short week), is based on individual student behavior. The number of Dojo
points will determine if and when a student will be awarded a prize.
100% Dojo percentage - pick from the ​SUPER​ Treasure Box & enjoy Fun
Friday
99% - 80% Dojo percentage – Enjoy Fun Friday
Less than 80% Dojo percentage – nice effort, but try again next week
Weekly prizes will also be given to groups who have received the
most points over the course of the week.
Students can get ​Super​ calls home, too! Occasionally, we will make a call
home when a student has had great behavior. This is an opportunity to
reinforce good school behavior at home. We recommend offering ​SMALL
prizes at home if you receive a Super call like a simple high five, making
the child’s favorite dinner, or making a few minutes of special time just for
him or her.
Other rewards will be given to students who go above and beyond.
Birthdays
We all love birthdays!! Therefore, we will celebrate all birthdays on the
last Friday of every month. June, July, and August birthdays will be
celebrated in May. There will be a parent sign-up in the middle of each
month to bring treats for the celebration at the end of the month.
Class Parties
We will have parties for various reasons throughout the year. We will
send home notices to parents in order to coordinate parent volunteers.
Homework
Please note that homework is mandatory. Homework is intended to assist
your child with independently practicing the skills introduced during
class. Homework should be fairly quick and easy for your child
independently complete. Your child will be given 3 math pages and a
reading log the first day of the week. This packet will be due on Friday
morning when your child arrives to school. Major Dojo points will be
awarded to students who turn in their homework on time every week!
Please let your child’s homeroom teacher know if he or she spends more
than 30-45 minutes completing any homework packet/assignment. Please
note that incomplete or missing homework will result in the following
consequences:
✓ Negative Dojo points will be given.
✓ A call home will be made after the 3​rd​ incomplete/late/missing
assignment.
✓ In the event that incomplete/late/missing assignments continues to
be a problem, a homework contract will be sent home. The contract
will need to be signed by both the parent and student.
Homework missed due to absence will be due the following day after
returning to school. But of course, due to the number of days missed,
workload, and the reason for the absence, the due date can sometimes be
negotiable.
Folders
Every student will have two folders. One will be labeled “Classwork” and
will stay at school. The other will be labeled “Homework” and will be
brought to school and sent home each day. Your child’s homework folder
will contain your child’s weekly homework packet and notices from
school or the front office. We recommend that you check your child’s
Homework folder daily. If a student loses their Homework folder, it is the
parent’s responsibility to replace it.
After School Pick Up
Due to the logistics of how after school pick up works for 1st-8th grade, a
physical sign out sheet will not be feasible for our first grade parents.
Changes in Getting Home
If there is a change in where your child goes after school or how he/she
gets home, please call the office or send a note.

Hola ​SUPER​ ​padres y estudiantes del 1r Grado, Estamos muy emocionados por este nuevo año escolar. Hay un montón de cosas nuevas
que se van a aprender y nuevos amigos que se harán este año escolar!
Nuestro objetivo para este año es ayudar a su hijo/a ser un estudiante independiente y
responsable, así como, mostrarles cómo tomar decisiones responsables. Con el fin de
lograr este objetivo, habrá tareas (poco) y vamos a hacer la mayor parte del tiempo de la
clase. Nuestras expectativas para nuestros estudiantes de primer grado este año serán
altas. Como una familia de aprendizaje, todos vamos a necesitar trabajar duro y hacer
todo lo posible todos los días.
Por favor, lea las siguientes páginas con su hijo/a. Estas páginas describen la política de
la clase, la disciplina, y responde unas preguntas que alomejor tenga sobre el año
escolar. Asegúrese de hablar sobre lo que está en el paquete con su hijo/a. La última

¿Qué se necesitan los estudiante llevar a la escuela? Todos los estudiantes deben tener una mochila. Esto hace que el transporte de los útiles y la tarea sea más fácil. Los estudiantes también pueden traer una botella de agua. La botella debe tener una tapa que sea ajustado (preferimos que no tengan tapas deportivas, son ruidosas y tienden a no cerrarse correctamente) y que debe ser transparente. Si su niño desea traer artículos personales del hogar, se recomienda que nos escriba una nota incluyendo el nombre de su hijo en ella. Esto evitará confusiones y cambios. Se les dará recompensas por diversas razones durante la semana. La primera recompensa, será entregada a la semana (viernes o el jueves en una semana corta), se basa en el comportamiento individual de los estudiantes. El número de puntos de Dojo determinará si y cuando un estudiante se le otorgará un premio. 100% porcentaje Dojo ­ escoje de la caja del SUPER tesoro y disfrutara del Viernes divertido 99% ­ 80% porcentaje Dojo ­ Disfrute Viernes Divertido Menos del 80% porcentaje de Dojo ­ buen esfuerzo, pero trate de nuevo la próxima semana También se entregarán premios semanales a los grupos que han recibido la mayor cantidad de puntos a lo largo de la semana. Los estudiantes también pueden obtener una Súper llamada al hogar! De vez en cuando, vamos a hacer una llamada a casa cuando un estudiante ha tenido un gran comportamiento. Esta es una oportunidad para reforzar el buen comportamiento en la escuela como en casa. Recomendamos que ofrescan premios pequeños en la casa si recibe una Super llamada de como un simple “dame 5”, haciendo la cena favorita del estudiante, o hacer unos cuantos minutos de tiempo especial sólo para él o ella. Se les dará otras recompensas a los estudiantes que van más allá. Cumpleaños A todos nos gusta los cumpleaños!! Por lo tanto, vamos a celebrar todos los cumpleaños, el último viernes de cada mes. Los cumpleanos de Junio, Julio, Agosto seran celebrados en Mayo. Habrá una inscripción para padres de familia en el medio de cada mes para traer los snacks para la celebración al final del mes. Fiestas de la clase Vamos a tener fiestas por diversas razones durante todo el año. Vamos a enviar avisos a los padres con el fin de coordinar los voluntarios. Deberes Tenga en cuenta que la tarea es obligatoria. La tarea es designada con fin de ayudar a su hijo/a con la práctica de forma independiente y las habilidades introducidas durante la clase. La tarea debe ser bastante rápida y fácil para su hijo/a de forma independiente. Su hijo/a recibirá 3 páginas de matemáticas y una de lectura en el primer día de la semana. Este paquete será hecho la mañana del Viernes cuando el niño llega a la escuela. Los puntos principales Dojo serán otorgados a los estudiantes que entreguen su tarea a tiempo todas las semanas! Por favor avísele a la maestra de su hijo/a si él o ella pasa más de 30­45 minutos a completar cualquier tarea de paquetes / asignación. Tenga en cuenta que la tarea incompleta o que falte va a tener las siguientes consecuencias: ✓ Puntos negativos en dojo.
✓ Haremos una llamada a la casa después de la 3ra tarea que falte/este
tarde/ o sea incompleta.
✓ En el caso que la tarea siga faltando/sea tarde/ o sea incompleta un
contrato de tarea sera mandado a la casa. El contrato va a tener que
ser firmado por los padres de familia y los estudiantes.
Cuando no traigan la tarea por una ausencia la tendrán que hacer para el día siguiente ya
que regresen a la escuela. Pero, por supuesto, debido a la cantidad de días perdidos, la
carga de trabajo, y la razón de la ausencia, la fecha de para entregar la tarea puede ser
negociada.
Folders
Cada estudiante tendrá dos folders. Uno llevará el nombre "Trabajo de clase" y se
quedará en la escuela. El otro será para "tarea" y serán mandados a la casa y regresados
a la escuela cada día. Folders de tareas de su hijo/a tendrá un paquete de tarea semanal
de su hijo/a y las comunicaciones de la escuela o la oficina. Recomendamos ver el folder
de la tarea de su hijo/a todos los días. Si un estudiante pierde su folder de tarea, es la
responsabilidad de los padres reemplazarlo.
Recoger despues de la escuela
Debido a las logística de después de la escuela de 1o a 8o, vamos a tener una hoja para
que saque a sus estudiantes.
Los cambios en Volviendo a casa
Si hay un cambio en donde su hijo/a va después de la escuela o la forma en que él / ella
llega a casa, por favor llame a la oficina o envíe una nota.
