FECHA: 19-06-2013 PÁGINA: 2 de 3 CONCEPTUALIZACIÓN REPORTED SPEECH (direct and indirect speech) El estilo directo expresa lo que las personas dicen o han dicho con sus palabras exactas. Generalmente, dichas frases van entre comillas. Ejemplo: ‘I don’t love you, Sam,’ said Rachel. ‘I am bored,’ Celine told me. ‘No te amo, Sam’, dijo Raquel. ‘(Yo) Estoy aburrida’, me dijo Celine. Con el estilo indirecto expresamos la misma idea que la otra persona dijo en vez de usar sus palabras exactas. Ejemplo: Rachel said that she didn’t love Sam. Celine told me she was bored. Raquel dijo que no amaba a Sam. Celine me dijo que estaba aburrida. Observemos los cambios de tiempo verbal que ocurren del estilo directo al indirecto: si el verbo en la cláusula de estilo directo se encuentra en presente, se convierte en pasado en el estilo indirecto.
