ABB wins contract with Baleària to maintain turbochargers The OPAC agreement (Operation Performance Package) includes the integral maintenance of the turbochargers attached to the three Mak engines of the Baleària fleet Madrid, 25 april 2011. ABB, the leader company in power and automation technologies, has signed an agreement with Baleària Eurolíneas Marítimas, S.A. for the integral service of the ABB turbochargers installed in the Mak engines of their Martín i Soler, Alhucemas, and Abel Matutes vessels. Baleària is the only naval company in Spain that connects the four main islands of the Balearic Islands with the Spanish peninsula, besides offering daily connections between the isles. Presently, the company also operates in the Gibraltar Strait. Their main business is the regular maritime transport of passengers and goods. Under the OPAC contract, the customer pays a fix amount per working hour of their turbochargers. That amount includes all maintenance costs. The contract will expand for eight years. In this period, ABB will take care of the maintenance of the turbochargers, including collection, transport to the ABB service centers, workmanship, spares, and technical assistance.
