On 15 January, we wrote to inform you of the consequences that could occur if the extraordinary
election of the Federación Ecuatoriana de Tenis, called by yourself, was held on 19 January 2013.
Subsequently, we note that you have allowed this election to proceed.
The ITF Board of Directors will meet in March and will consider the situation in Ecuador. The Board
reserves the right to take action in relation to the Federación Ecuatoriana de Tenis.
In the meantime, the ITF does not recognise the election that was held on 19 January or the validity of
any results from that election.
However, prior to the consideration of our Board on this subject, we will not jeopardise athletes and
on-going tennis activities in Ecuador. Therefore, the ITF will temporarily accept entries from Ecuador
into ITF events (Davis Cup, Fed Cup, Juniors, etc.) and will continue to accept tournament applications
providing said entries/applications are ratified and forwarded to the ITF by Mr Victor Hugo Moncayo
Navarrete, the person recognised by the ITF as currently representing the Federación Ecuatoriana de
Tenis.
We will inform you of the decision of the Board in due course. The ITF will continue to take appropriate
action to defend the independence of tennis as a sport in Ecuador.
