ESL Students
Enrollment Instructions
(English as a Second Language)

Complete an application online at: www.avc.edu. An application can also be submitted to
Admissions and Records, located in the lobby of the Student Services Building.

Complete an ESL assessment in room T-100 if your level of English is not basic. Check with
the Assessment Center for work hours. You must arrive at least 2 hours prior to closing time.
After completing the assessment go to the Counseling Center and a counselor will interpret the
results.

Counseling. Once you have taken the ESL Assessment if appropriate, you may bring the scores
with you to the Counseling Center and a Counselor will assist you by interpreting the scores and
suggesting courses. You may inquire about obtaining an Initial Educational Plan, which will
contain a list of courses for your first enrollment period

Complete an Orientation (available in Spanish)
Visit our website at www.avc.edu and click on “Online Orientation.” (for Spanish click on “En
Español”) Many different services and policies will be presented to you. There will also be a quiz
for each section. All quizzes must be passed to receive credit for the Orientation.

When the Schedule of Classes becomes available at www.avc.edu, pick the courses you need to
take. You may inquire about future registration dates at the following link:

Register for your choice of classes by Web/Internet at (www.avc.edu) by login into myAVC or
in person in Admissions & Records (SSV building) at the time of your appointment or later.

Pay fees at the Cashiers Office or through myAVC within the due dates established in the
Academia Calendar or you will be dropped from all classes. Check the schedule or AVC’s
website for deadlines. You may also enroll in a payment plan.

Attend classes. To maintain your enrollment in a class, it is of utmost importance that you be
present on the first day.

Auditing. Students at Antelope Valley College and community members will be permitted to
audit courses only if the admission of auditors will not result in credit students being denied
access to a course. Audit petition forms are available from Admissions and Records in the
Student Services Building. The forms will not be accepted until after the first week of classes;
instructor approval and payment of fees to the cashier is required prior to attending classes.
Auditors will be invited to participate in class activities at the discretion of the instructor;
however, the instructor is not required to evaluate in any way class activities and projects.

AVC - Consejería
#1 –
Llene una aplicación a través del Internet en la dirección www.avc.edu. Una aplicación también
puede entregarse en el departamento de Admisiones y Registros que se encuentra en el vestíbulo
del edificio de “Student Services.”

Tome la Evaluación de ESL en la sala T-100 si su nivel de Inglés no es de principiante.
Verifique las horas de atención del Centro de Evaluaciones. Asegúrese de llegar por lo menos 2
horas antes de que el centro cierre.

Consejería. Luego de completar la evaluación, lleve los resultados al Centro de Consejería para
que un consejero los interprete y le sugiera cursos de estudio. Pida obtener un Plan Educacional
Inicial, el cual enlistará los cursos para su primera sesión de estudios.

Complete la Orientación (disponible en Español)
Visite nuestra página web a la dirección www.avc.edu y pulse la conexión “Online Orientation,”
para Español pulse la conexión (“En Español”). Diferentes servicios y políticas del college son
presentados y cada sección tiene una prueba. Para recibir crédito por la Orientación, el estudiante
tiene pasar exitosamente cada prueba.

Cuando el Horario de Clases esté disponible a través de nuestro portal de
Internet: www.avc.edu, escoja los cursos que necesite tomar. Usted puede informarse sobre las
fechas futuras de registración por la siguiente conexión:

Inscríbase para sus clases por el Internet (www.avc.edu) al ingresar en su cuenta personal en
myAVC o en persona en el mostrador de Admisiones y Registros (edificio SSV) a su hora
asignada o cualquier momento después.

Pague en la oficina de caja o através del Internet después de
inscribirse en sus clases de acuerdo a las fechas de vencimiento establecidas en el Calendario
Académico o será dado de baja de todas sus clases. Verifique las fechas de vencimiento de pago
en el horario impreso. Un plan de pago está disponible.

Asista a sus clases. Para mantener su cupo en cualquier clase, es
sumamente importante que asista el primer día.

Ayentes. Se permite a estudiantes de Antelope Valley College y miembros de la comunidad
participar en clases como oyentes solamente si la admisión como oyentes no resultase en negar
acceso a estudiantes que tomen la clase por crédito. Las peticiones para oyentes están disponibles
en la oficina de Admisiones y Registros en el edificio de Servicios Estudiantiles. Las peticiones
no serán aceptadas hasta después de la primera semana de clases; se requiere la aprobación del
instructor y el pago de los costos en la cajera antes de asistir a clases. Bajo la discreción del
instructor, los oyentes pueden ser invitados a participar en las actividades de clase; sin embargo,
no se requiere que los instructores evalúen actividades y proyectos.
