Marine Technology Ximo, Ltd. (Marexi) was formed on December 7, 2004, and began its
operation on March 17, 2005.
Marexi is a new, dynamic and young company from Galicia that bases its activity on the
constant research and development of tools, equipment and technological solutions applied
to the marine sector.
Sciences such as acoustics, optics and other branches of physics are focusing increasingly
their investigations into the marine environment. Marexi as a technology company
specialized in the research work directly generating products and solutions to move
increasingly in the exploration, research and development and conservation of marine
resources.
Marexi has been recognized and described by the Xunta of Galicia: company Employment
Initiative with Technologic Base (66/059/2004/Iebt 's).
Mediterranean Marexi SL was founded in Palma de Mallorca on February 4, 2009, with the
same fundamental goals Ximo Marine Technology Ltd., to cover the Balearic Islands from
around the Mediterranean. The offices are situated in the Technological Park PARCBIT,
near the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), sharing the building with the General
Directorate of R & D of the Balearic Islands.
Marexi is the result of long personal experience of D. Joaquín Salvador Gracia, Managing
Director of the company, in the marine technology industry, participating in development
projects where technological innovation has always played a major role. These include
those made with the Department of Primary Industries, James Cook University, Research
Center of Coral, The Marine Research Institute and the Marine Park Barrier Reef, all in
Australia and the Department Technical and design and manufacturing systems in the
campaigns in search of giant squid along with members of the “Instituto de Investigaciones
Marinas de Vigo” (Marine Research Institute – Vigo), and the Museum of Natural Sciences
(Madrid), among others.
Marexi currently being developed in innovation and improvements in gear and fishing
equipment for seafood processing, virtual simulation of processes and systems,
instrumentation and specialized equipment for oceanographic and environmental
equipment for fishing vessels and specialized scientific, oceanographic buoys, various
technological applications R & D for industry and the research and courses, seminars and
consulting experts.

specializing in optical systems and submersible SWFisher, with several detection products
submarine and ROV vehicles. Through various performances in Spain, sells products from
various brands like SEABIRD, TURNER, HANNA, etc.
Since July 2007 Marexi is present in Palma de Mallorca, Balearic delegation aims to cover
the entire Mediterranean area from this location. Is led by a graduate researcher in biology
and marine science, Iñaki Miniño, Project Director "Marine Reserves: Protected paradises"
of the Cousteau Foundation "Uniting for the Oceans", and current president of the
association of technology companies in the marine of the Balearic Islands (Sea Technology
Cluster of the Balearic Islands).

In addition, Marexi is a member of the expert network for the prevention of pollution
PREVECMA, managed by the Sea Technological Center (Centro Tecnológico del Mar –
CETMAR).
MARKETS
Our products are principally for commercial fishing and aquaculture sectors. We are also
exploring other areas such as marine sports / recreation and industry and professional
diving.
Other sectors with which we are in direct contact and Scientific Government directly or
indirectly related to the sea. The professional experience of the partners MAREXI allows us
to interact with government agencies, universities and research centers, which have very
good image and recognition.
PRODUCTS
Our products can be characterized as "most technologically advanced” in comparison to
those currently on the market, these products are the Pinger (acoustic deterrent device
dolphin) and LED (light device for fishing).
Other products which owns MAREXI can be classified as "novel" because it did not exist in
the market. Among these products we can highlight the Orca-Stop (Device deterrent
orcas), the SEAR (waterproof earphone), the TEDEPAD (Terminator parasite Anisakis),
among others. Some of these products are in development (SEAR, TEDEPAD) but these
developments will be finalized in the first half of 2009 which means we have already begun
with the market analysis.

Even some of the
products are still in development are approved and made their CE mark.
Besides the finished products and those under development, is MAREXI partner in two
projects that were requested earlier this year: PINGAIR (Device deterrence of marine
mammals through barriers of gas) which has already been adopted successfully, and the
NETCONTROL (Control and monitoring of trawl nets).

AQUAEYE: and fingerling size analyzer for use in Aquaculture: a highly automated
technology, which allows in real time to accurately determine the number, sizes and
weights of fish for aquaculture.

FLOATING SYSTEMS FOR AUTOMATIC CONTROL AND MONITORING OF
WATER: Buoys and platforms for low maintenance and high operational life, for the
analysis and determination in the ocean or coastal marine environment of physical,
chemical and biological submarines and aircraft (2 meters tall).

Physical: Sampling in vertical profiles from 001 meters to 500 meters deep.
•
Chemical and biological water quality according to current regulations.
•
Systems with moorings in the anchorage zone of up to 6.000 meters deep.
•
Datalogger and transmission of integrated data, sending the data stored in real
time via telemetry ocean and advanced data processing centers, control of land,
distributing the finished products, via intranet, extranet or the Internet private.

Our systems are fully configurable on demand, according to the needs of each
client.

Ente Promotor Observer (EPO) in a project impact of the concentration of
anthropogenic CO2 in the oceans led by the Department of Oceanology Institute of
Marine Research CSIC.
•
Manufacture of critical components of WACS (Whale Anti Collision System) project won
the 2005 Rolex research, delivered to Dr. Michel André Director of LAB.
•
Participation in demonstration project on the effectiveness of Pinger with the Spanish
Institute of Oceanography, Almería. Ongoing project in 2007.
