Dear Parent/Guardian: Today your child received an accidental blow to his/her head.
Estimado Padre/Tutor: Su niño/a recibió un golpe accidental a la cabeza, hoy.

All children who receive a bump on the head should be closely observed for at least 24 hours after the incident
occurs. Many times symptoms from an injury to the head do not appear until hours or days after the injury.
Due to the inconsistent nature of head injuries, all bumps, even what is seemingly a slight bump, should still be
closely watched.
Todo niño/a que recibe un golpe en la cabeza debería ser observado cuidadosamente por lo menos por 24
horas después de ocurrido el incidente . Muchas veces los síntomas de una herida a la cabeza no aparecen
hasta horas o dias después. Debido a lo variado de las heridas a la cabeza, a todos los chichones, aunque
parezcan pequeños, debería prestárseles atención.
If your child receives a blow to his/her head, he/she should be observed for the following symptoms:

Nausea or vomiting.
Nausea o vómitos
Is your child is extremely sleepy at a time when they should not be sleepy? Can your child be awakened from sleep?
¿Está su niño/a demasiado soñoliento/a cuando no debería estarlo? ¿ Puede despertarlo/a?
Mental confusion and disorientation. Can the child remember their name, address, age, etc.? Do they know where
they are?
Confusión mental o desorientación. ¿Puede el niño /a recordar su nombre, dirección, edad, etc. ? ¿Sabe dónde
está?
Lack of movement. Is your child able to move their arms or legs properly?
Falta de movimiento. ¿Puede su ˜niño/a mover bien los brazos y piernas?
Unequal size or dilation of pupils of the eye.
Pupilas dilatadas o de tamaño diferente en los ojos.
Should any of the above symptoms develop, you should consult with your physician immediately.
Si notara cualquiera de los síntomas mencionados arriba, consulte a su médico inmediatamente.
