Dear Sisters and Brothers,
We are incredibly blessed people!
Most of us have not known hunger,
lack of shelter, lack of necessities.
Among our parish members, there may
be persons who have experienced just
the opposite perhaps even homelessness. As we gather to pray this
weekend, Jesus tells us in the Gospel:
“I am the bread of life whoever comes to me will never
hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst.”
We are blessed with the Real Presence of Jesus in the
Eucharist. This Jesus sustains us and strengthens us as
we journey through life.
Through the Sacrament of Holy Orders, men are
ordained as priests. At the Mass, through the power of
their words, the bread and the wine are transformed into
the Body and Blood of Jesus. Priests follow in the footsteps of Jesus who commissioned his apostles to do the
same at the Last Supper.
I know that there is a great desire in the parish to have
the same priest celebrant on a regular basis. However,
we are not without the Eucharist here at St. Philip. We
have been blessed to meet many of the priests of our
diocese during the course of the past year. As of the
writing of this letter, I have not received notification of
anyone assigned to our parish. We are assured that will
happen soon.
Next week, José López, our seminarian from St. Philip,
will be present at all of our Masses to speak about his
mission and vocation leading to priesthood. He will be
inviting you to participate in the annual Seminarian
Collection. I know that our support and interest means
very much to José. Let us continue to pray for him as he
continues his studies.
Let us pray daily for vocations to ministry in the
Church whether it is priesthood, religious life, the
diaconate, or various ministries for the good of the parish
community. The witness of married couples and families
is among the beautiful ministries with which God blesses
the Church. In the family, vocations are nourished and
supported.

the date of our Fiesta San Felipe: English 9:00 AM &
Bilingual 11:00 AM. The change will allow all parishioners to attend the Fiesta, which begins shortly after the

Mensaje de Nuestra Líder Pastoral
Queridos hermanos y hermanas,
¡Somos gente increíblemente
bendecida! La mayoría de nosotros
no ha conocido el hambre, falta de
vivienda, falta de necesidades. Entre
los miembros de nuestra parroquia,
puede que haya personas que han
experimentado precisamente lo opuesto, quizá hasta
haber estado sin hogar. Al reunirnos para orar este
fin de semana, Jesús nos dice en el Evangelio: "Yo
soy el Pan de Vida. El que viene a mí jamás tendrá
hambre; el que cree en mí jamás tendrá sed."
Somos bendecidos con la presencia Real de Jesús en
la Eucaristía. Este Jesús nos sostiene y fortalece en
nuestro peregrinaje por la vida.
Mediante el Sacramento de las Sagradas Órdenes,
los hombres son ordenados sacerdotes. En la Misa,
a través del poder de sus palabras, el pan y el vino
se transforman en el cuerpo y la sangre de Jesús.
Los sacerdotes siguen los pasos de Jesús quien
encargó a sus apóstoles a hacer lo mismo en la
Última Cena.
Sé que en la parroquia hay un gran deseo por tener
al mismo sacerdote celebrante de modo regular. Sin
embargo, no estamos sin la Eucaristía aquí en San
Felipe. Hemos sido bendecidos al conocer muchos
de los sacerdotes de nuestra diócesis durante el
trascurso del año pasado. A partir de haber escrito
esta carta, no he recibido notificación de alguna
persona que haya sido asignada a nuestra parroquia.
Seguramente eso sucederá pronto.
La próxima semana, nuestro seminarista de San
Felipe, José López, estará presente en todas nuestras
Misas para hablar sobre su misión y vocación hacia
el sacerdocio. Les invitará a participar en la Colecta
Anual de Seminaristas. Sé que nuestro apoyo e
interés significa mucho para José. Sigamos orando
por él mientras continúa sus estudios.
Oremos diariamente por las vocaciones al ministerio
en la Iglesia, bien sea el sacerdocio, vida religiosa,
diaconal o diversos ministerios para el bien de la
comunidad parroquial. El testimonio de
matrimonios y familias está entre los hermosos
ministerios con el cual Dios bendice la Iglesia. Es
en la familia que las vocaciones son alimentadas y
apoyadas.
