Programa Internacional: Duque de
Edimburgo
Laveena Thadhani, Yunfei Li, Yutong Song, Alba Andrade, Elena Melian, Margarita
Murillo, Laura Cabrera, Carolina Muñoz, Marta Suarez, Sara Cabrera, Elena Garcia,
Carla Ojeda, Jorge Velasquez, Judit Gonzalez, Paula Perez, Alvaro Hernandez, Carlos
Acosta, Carl Suneson, Ignacio de Cabo, Francisco Retuerto, Ismael Sanchez, Luis
Sanchez, Aldo Mateu.
equipo, liderazgo, y capacidades organizativas

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International
Award
The twenty three students involved in the Duke of Edinburgh’s
International Award this academic year have successfully completed
their bronze award.
Laveena Thadhani, Yunfei Li, Yutong Song, Alba Andrade, Elena Melian, Margarita
Murillo, Laura Cabrera, Carolina Muñoz, Marta Suarez, Sara Cabrera, Elena Garcia,
Carla Ojeda, Jorge Velasquez, Judit Gonzalez, Paula Perez, Alvaro Hernandez, Carlos
Acosta, Carl Suneson, Ignacio de Cabo, Francisco Retuerto, Ismael Sanchez, Luis
Sanchez, Aldo Mateu.
Working towards achieving this internationally recognised qualification
began for the aforementioned students back in September last year.
Throughout the course of the school year, the participants have been
deeply involved in a range of initiatives designed to provide them with
skills which will benefit them throughout their lives. In order to complete
the award, each participant has had to meet with the demands that the
four sections of the award entail (physical, community service, skills and
expedition training).
The diversity of activities available, together with the flexibility that the
award structure offers has provided our students with the autonomy to
develop an award programme catered towards their own personal
requirements. In all cases, these industrious young people have been
faced with numerous challenges which have allowed them to foster their
teamwork, communication, leadership and organizational skills. Needless
to say, as a result, each and every participant has had their own personal
‘award experience’. Without a shadow of doubt, these young men and
women have thoroughly enjoyed the experience and learnt a great deal
about themselves and the other members of the group. We hope that
they will consider continuing such a worthwhile experience by taking silver
and gold in the future.
As a school, we have been running the award since 2009, and each year
the programme is becoming ever more popular. We hope to improve the
award experience for all our participants thanks to the suggestions offered
by the participants themselves as well as all the staff involved in running
the award at Canterbury School. Planning for next year’s award adventure
is already well under way and we are very much looking forward to
working with those students who have chosen to continue their studies in
the sixth form at our school. Such experiences are an integral part of the
school’s commitment to taking education beyond the confines of the
classroom.
This year’s participants will be issued their official certification at the
graduation evening on the 14th June. For more information, contact David
