This Degree’s Final Project is focused on mechanical design of a stand-alone device for reeducation of right hand in Acquired Brain Damage’s (ABD) patients. The main ABD’s cause
is cerebrovascular disease.

Concerning its operation, the device counts with a series of designed elements and
another selection of commercial components, which are duly joined forming assemblies
and mechanisms. The device performs a movement which consists in a sequence of
elevation of fingers of the hand in a determined angle.
This device is intended to be an assistance instrument for people that have suffered any
kind of ABD during a lengthy period of recovery. The thorough design of this device will
make its use intuitive and thus, it will be user-friendly for ABD patients. In addition, as this
device will be mobile, so it can be used in both clinics and medical home assistance. This
design has been thought to have a reduced cost, because current devices for re-education
of hand in ABD’s patients are very expensive, and therefore, their use is very restricted
inside the population.
