was no more than an idealized utopia. With the creation of the United
Nations we witnessed a truly internationalisation of these rights. The
protection of human rights, along with the maintenance of international
peace and security, is one of the Organisation’s mains objectives. The
problem of the Charter was that it did not mention protection of human
Inglés Ingelesa rights but promotion. Therefore, in 1946, the Economic and Social
Council created the Commission on Human Rights, a subsidiary body
that would perform an important role in the field of human rights.
However, it was critized during its last years due to its double
standards and excessive politization. This resulted in its replacement
by the Human Rights Council.
