Are you involved in a Liturgical ministry? From Choir to Lectors to Eucharistic Ministers, to Altar Servers, to the Flower Ministry, to Ushers, to Sacristans, those who wash the altar linens, we need to review who and what we are about, so a Liturgical Listening Session is planned to “catch-up!” July 19, 2015 Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time Dear Parishioners and Friends: Queridos Feligreses y Amigos: [Things got so hectic that Jesus and his disciples didn’t even have time to eat. So] Jesus said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.” [Mark 6: 31-32] Jesus looks after us and wants us to make time to rest and recover, to reflect and discover the goodness of God that we are swimming in but often miss. So like the Good Shepherd, good parents and leaders do that, even when they are deprived of rest themselves, and they give even more in order to share the Gospel with those entrusted to their care. Like Jesus we are called to shepherd: to care, heal, listen and teach. But we must follow him with sufficient rest lest we become overwhelmed by the unending needs of others, so that we find a holy rhythm in our lives of rest and work, prayer and action. Too much rest can lull us into being uncaring shepherds. Have you found your balance rhythm in your own mission? Question for the week: What do you need to fulfill your mission at this time of your life? What do you want? Can you, do you, tell God what you want and what you need?
