“Why Do People Dump Their Trash in Creeks?” Dumping of trash, yard waste, old shopping carts,
mattresses, car parts, bottles and cans or used motor oil in and around creeks cause serious
environmental health risk. Dumping is more than an unsightly nuisance:

It costs taxpayers money to clean it out
It can clog stream flow causing flooding
It can become a breeding place for rodents and mosquitoes
It creates pollutants that threaten our groundwater, our drinking water, our children,
and the plants and animals that thrive in our creeks and in the Bay.
Because of dumping, there are often more places to clean up than city crews can get to. Trash in
creeks and streams block the flow of stormwater runoff. The result can be flooding over creek
banks and bridge crossings that can damage your property.
The City of Redwood City is about to begin the annual maintenance and debris removal from
concrete-lined channels and the public culvert crossings of the City’s natural creeks. Residents and
creek-side property owners share the responsibility to keep these waterways clean and free of trash
and debris. Please disposal of trash and garbage properly, do not put it in creeks. Your help will
ensure the future health, safety and general well being of the community and protect property
values.
The City will do its part to keep the creeks & channels free of flood hazards. Please do your part

partes de carro, botellas y botes de aceite usado de carro, dentro y alrededor de los arroyos causa serios
riesgos a la salud y al ambiente. Tirar basura es mas que un problema cósmetico:

Cuando contáminamos, hay mas lugares que tenemos que limpiar que trabajadores que los limpien.
Basura en arroyos y cauces bloquea el paso a las corrientes de lluvia. El resultado puede ser desbordes de
arroyos y puentes que pueden causar daños a su propiedad.
La Ciudad de Redwood City esta apunto de empezar el mantenimiento annual y limpieza de hojas de los
canales de concreto y el cruce de arroyos publicos naturales de la cuidad. Residentes y propietarios
aledaños a los arroyuelos comparten la responsabilidad de mantener las vias fluviales libres de basura y
hojas. Por favor deshagase de los desperdicios adecuadamente, no los tire en arroyos. Su ayuda asegurará
la futura salud, seguridad y bienéstar de la comunidad y protége valores de propiedades.
La Ciudad hara su parte para mantener arroyos y canales libre de obstaculos de inundacion. Por favor
haga su parte para mantener nuestros canales saludables, limpios y con flujo libre.
