General Information of the Practical Component Learning strategy: Problem-Based Learning Course type: Methodological Evaluation moment: Intermediate Highest score of the component: 90 points Number of activities of the practical component registered in this guide: 1 With the development of this component students are expected to achieve the following learning outcomes: Design innovative, evidence-based language learning activities and assessments, incorporating current trends to effectively facilitate English language acquisition in diverse educational contexts. 2. General Activity Description of the Practical Component. Scenarios of the practical component: Remote Activity type: Collaborative Activity number: 4 Highest score of the activity: 90 points The activity starts on: Wednesday, The activity ends on: Tuesday, November 6, 2024 November 26, 2024 The resources required for the development of this activity are the following: • • • • • • • • Virtual Campus Pedagogical and Educational Practice Simulator Institutional e-mail Unit 2 contents The Project Proposal made in Phase 3 Pedagogical Practice Traceability forms Student’s e-portfolio EPICA attendance 1 The activity consists of: Individually: Pre-Task Go to the learning environment and review, study, and analyze the contents included in Unit 2 - Practical Approaches for Effective Language Learning. Attend and actively participate in the web conference by filling out the attendance form. In case you are unable to attend the live session, you may review the recording and provide a summary of the content covered. Make sure to include your summary in the final document. Step 1: Simulation for "Project-Based Learning in Foreign Language Acquisition" The Pedagogical Practices Simulator is an academic tool that allows undergraduate students to propose and carry out simulated pedagogical and didactic practices. It is based on problem situations to strengthen the skills inherent in the training of graduates who can apply them in their field practices in different learning environments. In this activity, the student will engage in a simulation titled "Project-Based Learning in Foreign Language Acquisition" that is available in the learning environment. Instructions: To fully complete the simulator, follow these steps, divided into two parts. Both parts must be completed in English. • First part Solve a situational problem: you need to create a justification for three different problematic situations. Each justification should be at least 300 words, providing a thorough rationale and analysis. To access the simulator the student must: 1. Access the resource in the learning environment 2. Play the introductory video to the simulator. 2 3. Play the Instructional Video that is on the button and follow the step by step for the development of the activity. 4. Download the Justifications file that the Simulator will show you, this must be uploaded to your e-portfolio in the folder called: “PRÁCTICA SIMULADA”. Please name it, like this: SITUACIÓN PROBLEMA_YOUR NAME • Second part The student will engage in research related to the problematic situations identified in the simulation. To access the Research Assistant the student must: 1. Access the resource ‘Research Assistant’ in the simulator. Here, you need to recognize every stage: Initial idea, action, evaluation, and reflection. 2. Once you have recognized the stages, you must start the development of you research idea generating a short but concise proposal following the instructions included in each stage. 3. Finally, you must download the file that compiles all the information you included during the development of the research assistant. This must be uploaded to your e-portfolio in the folder called: “PRÁCTICA SIMULADA”. Please name it like this: ASISTENTE DE INVESTIGACIÓN_YOUR NAME. If you need additional information and instructions to develop each stage, please ask your tutor for guidance. Step 2: Post your progress in the Research Assistant in the forum Post your progress in the research assistant in the forum and provide feedback to at least one of your classmates. Collaboratively: Step 3: Design a Poster Instructions: Create a collaborative poster summarizing your project proposal from Phase 3. The poster should visually present your innovative language learning activities, assessments, and integration of current trends. Use this template for creating your poster. 3 As a team, prepare for the presentation of your project at an event called "Ágora" which will take place in Phase 5. Step 4: EPICA attendance ECEDU has defined the EPICA strategy, which includes a series of face-to-face or virtual sessions with student groups. During the meeting, you will receive instructions on your practice processes and required forms. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to share your experiences with observational practices and their impacts. Be prepared to share your experiences; each participant will have a few minutes to speak. Remember to take screenshots to include in your final submission. Note: Attendance is mandatory and will contribute to your evaluation score as specified in the rubric. The meeting schedule will be announced in the course forums, as well as via email and Teams chat, by each tutor. Post Cycle Component: Individually E-portfolio Your E-portfolio should include the folder for PRÁCTICA SIMULADA, as indicated below: PRÁCTICA SIMULADA: • SITUACIÓN PROBLEMA_YOUR NAME • ASISTENTE DE INVESTIGACIÓN_YOUR NAME Collaboratively Create a PDF file that includes the following components: • Cover Page: Design a cover page for your document following the APA style guidelines. • Evidence of Forum Participation: Each member of the group has to provide evidence of their active participation in the forum, such as screenshots or relevant excerpts. • Poster: The picture and the link of your poster (upload it in your personal one drive and make sure to provide free access). 4 • Evidence of EPICA attendance: Provide evidence of your active participation in the EPICA. • References in APA Style: Include a list of references using the APA style format. Name your document in the evaluation environment using the following format: Group Number_Phase 4_518015 Once your document is complete, submit it to the evaluation environment for assessment. For the development of the practical component consider that: In the Initial Information Environment, you must: Check the course agenda and note the delivery time for each activity. Familiarize yourself with the main characteristics of the course through the course presentation. Accept the terms and conditions of the course. Identify the designated times for synchronous teacher interaction and support. In the Learning Environment, you must: Read the course syllabus thoroughly. Read, study, and analyze the course contents in detail. In the Evaluation Environment, you must: Submit the activities within the specified deadlines, ensuring that you fulfill all the requirements outlined in the activity guide. Evidences of individual work: The individual evidence to be submitted is: Your e-portfolio with: Your E-portfolio should include the folder for PRÁCTICA SIMULADA, as indicated below: PRÁCTICA SIMULADA: • SITUACIÓN PROBLEMA_YOUR NAME • ASISTENTE DE INVESTIGACIÓN_YOUR NAME Evidences of collaborative work: The collaborative evidence to be submitted is: 5 In the evaluation environment you must send the following document: Create a PDF file that includes the following components: • Cover Page: Design a cover page for your document following the APA style guidelines. • Evidence of Forum Participation: Each member of the group has to provide evidence of their active participation in the forum, such as screenshots or relevant excerpts. • Poster: The picture and the link of your poster (upload it in your personal one drive and make sure to provide free access). • Evidence of EPICA attendance: Provide evidence of your active participation in the EPICA. • References in APA Style: Include a list of references using the APA style format. Name your document in the evaluation environment using the following format: Group Number_Phase 4_518015 Once your document is complete, just one member of the group must submit it to the evaluation environment for assessment. 3.
