Rafael Nadal an icon of tennis
Talking about Rafa Nadal is talking about one of the best tennis players of the first
decade of the 2000s…and wanted, one of the best of all time. Winner of 22 grand
slam titles, Nadal is one of the 2 tennis players with the most titles in this category,
without a doubt an icon of tennis in Spain.
Rafael Nadal was born on June 3, 1986 in Manacor, Majorca Island, Balearic
Islands, from an early age he showed great qualities for sport, something that was
to be expected since he was born into a family of athletes, one of his uncles Miguel
Angel Nadal was a footballer for F.C. Barcelona while his other uncle Tony Nadal
was a tennis player.
It was for this reason that from his childhood he began to practice sports such as
soccer, basket ball and tennis, opting for tennis, a sport in which Rafa showed
great qualities, winning the under-12 tennis title at the age of 8. of the Balearic
Islands.
In 2002, Rafa, at just 15 years old, had his first chance to play in an ATP tour
tournament, becoming the youngest player to win a match in an official ATP
tournament by beating Paraguayan Ramon Delgado. Throughout his long career,
Rafa has won 22 Grand Slam titles, including 14 Roland Garros, 36 Masters 1000
titles, 23 ATP 500 tournaments, 10 ATP 250 titles and a gold medal at the Olympic
Games in Beijing 2008, without a doubt a true winner and his career deserves to
be recognized, because for more than a decade he was part of the top 3 of the
ATP ranking, being number 1 on several occasions.
