1 Explain the “blind spot” through the example of the woman pilot.
According to her, it´s something like what we know as stereotypes. She gives us an
example, mentioning that a pilot must be tall, white, with grey hair and should be male.
2 Mention 2 comparisons between men and women from the charts she shows.
Assertiveness and value for revenue generation. In the first category, both men and
women agree, but with the revenue they have a different perception, with men
overlooking that the situation is not really even.
3 Mention all the different “faces” that each person can have and give an example of
each
● Professional: used when you go to a job interview.
● Politically correct: an example could be to play a sport with a disabled person
and doing it even though you know it’s not what you wanted
● Curious tourist: visiting a house where they take their shoes off, respecting the
idea and considering it interesting but you wouldn’t want that at your own
house.
● Irritated customer: whenever you don’t understand what someone at the
airport told you and getting irritated because you think he didn’t help
4 Why does she say that people think are more competent if they speak English?
Because knowing a language and speaking it fluidly will make you sound smarter and
that you are more capable.
5 What is the Stroupe Effect?
The effect that occurs when the image and the word associated to it does not match,
like when some games say red in a word filled with blue.
