Elvis had lots of aunts and uncles but he didn’t have any brothers or sisters. He loved singing, and in 1945 he won a school singing competition. He also learnt to play the guitar by himself. When Elvis was 13 years old, he and his family moved to Memphis, Tennessee because they wanted a better life. He left school in 1953 and worked as a truck driver. In the evenings, he studied at night school because he wanted to be an electrician. In the same year, he made his first record, but it was just a present for his mother because it wasn’t sold at the shops. In 1954 he made his first public record and it was a success. People loved his music, his clothes and the way he moved. During his life, he also made 33 movies. Elvis joined the US army for two years and most of his time in Germany. There, he met Priscilla Beaulieu, and they married in 1967. They had a daughter, Lisa Marie. The last years of Elvis's life were not happy – he divorced Priscilla and he had an eating problem disorder.
