In the early 1900s, people all over the world were interested in
soccer and so a new international competition was born the world

Chile, Bolivia, and Peru), four from Europe (France, Belgium,
Romania, and Yugoslavia) and two from North America (the
United States and Mexico). The first World Cup game was
between France and Mexico on July 13. The very first goal of the
competition was by Lucien Laurent of France after just 19 minutes.
The French won the match 4-1.
The final game of the competition was on July 30, 1930, between
Uruguay and Argentina. The stadium was very crowded there were
93000 people there. But there was also a problem-the teams
disagreed about the ball. So, they played with Argentina's ball
during the first half and Uruguay's in the second! Uruguay won the
game 4-2 and so they were the first country to win the World Cup.

Unit 5 Lesson 3 exercise 4.
Hello and welcome to our opening day at sports able. It's great to see so many people here today.
So first let me tell you a little about sports able.
We are a sports disability charity, but a charity with a difference.
We don't just have offices. We have our own Recreation Center.
We have two swimming pools, two gyms and the large field for outdoor sports.
This means we can help disabled people do a lot of different activities and here are just a few examples. Swimming,
ping pong, golf and archery.
And our new sport for this year is wheelchair basketball. It's very fast and really fun.
And it's a very popular event at the Paralympics.
Here it's sports able were also part of the Paralympics.
Sports Table was a training Center for the Games in London in 2012.
And some of our athletes are themselves Paralympians.
The first year our athletes were in the Paralympics was 1976, just one year after sports able started in 1975.
So now I'd like to introduce you.
