"Good morning miss Rosa and teacher Gabriel, I am Matías González Fernández and I’m gonna
expose about a big religious celebration called “Fiesta de La Tirana”.
Previous of the outbreak of coronavirus in our country, me and my family we traveled to the north,
arriving in the town of “La Tirana” to see the costumes and dances of the diabladas of the “Fiesta de
la Tirana”.
We arrived the ten of July, the day when started the event with the big party of non-stop dancing in
front of the statue of the Virgen del Carmen, I was taking photos and recording video with my
parents meanwhile my sisters eating a patty.
They were so many people in the town; however, I was enjoying so much the fabulous dancing with
styles of antawawa, Chinese, chunchos and diabladas. On July sixteen I was so impressed when the
statue of the Virgen María starts moving across the streets in the town, and the people doesn’t stop
dancing in any moment. There was so much joy in the place that I can’t describe at all.
The people told me about what the legends says about this party, all begins with the illegal love
between “La Tirana”, a woman called “Ñusta Huillac” who fought the Spanish conquerors with
bravery and leadership, until she falls in love with a man of Portugal, making the people of “La
Tirana” go rage and kills the woman and the man.
In conclusion, the party of the Tirana it is one of the most beautiful celebrations in Chile, the dances
and the costumes has a perfect balance of quality and glow. I can say we all need to travel at this
place because it is not the same see this event online; they were spectacular days to me and my
family."
