FORM:
Affirmative: Sujeto + Verbo to have + participio pasado del verbo (3ª columna) I have
washed my hands
Negative: Sujeto + Verbo to have + not + participio pasado del verbo
I haven’t washed my hands
Question: Verbo to have + sujeto + participio pasado del verbo
Have I washed my hands?
USE:
 Cuando hay una acción que sucede en el pasado pero que tiene un resultado en el
presente.
You’ve broken this watch (it isn’t working now)
They’ve learnt the words (they know the words)
 También lo podemos utilizar con just, already, yet, for and since:

Just significa que hace poco tiempo. Se escribe antes del participio pasado. I’ve
just had an idea

Already significa más pronto de lo esperado. También se escribe antes del
participio pasado. It isn’t a good party. Most people have already gone home.

Yet se utiliza cuando esperamos que suceda algo. Se escribe al final de una
pregunta o de una frase negativa. Has your course started yet? It’s eleven o’clock
and you haven’t finished breakfast yet.

For se utiliza para decir cuánto dura un período de tiempo. Vicky has had that
camera for three days.

Since se utiliza para decir cuándo empieza el período de tiempo. We’ve live in
Oxford since 1992.

Para formar preguntas utilizamos How long..? How long have they been married?
For about three years. How long has Vicky had that camera? Since Thursday, I
think.

También podemos utilizar for y since cuando algo ha dejado de ocurrir. I haven’t
seen Rachel for ages. She hasn’t visited us since July.
 Gone and been to: Claire has gone to Australia. Significa que ella todavía está allí.
Claire has been to Australia. Significa que ha ido y ha vuelto.
 Ever and never: Usamos ever en preguntas. Significa en toda tu vida hasta el
momento presente. Never significa nunca. Have you ever played cricket? No, never.
This is the most expensive hotel we’ve stayed in.
 Después de It’s/This is the first/second time: This is the first/second time we’ve been to
Scotland.
 Today, this morning, this week, this year (es un período de tiempo que empieza en
Enero y dura hasta ahora). Have you had a holiday this year? No, not yet.
