What topics will be covered during the Elevate Program? How much does it cost to enroll my student? Elevate [Math] Your student will be introduced to math concepts during the summer to prepare them for their next level math class. By frontloading this material, your student will be prepared and comfortable when they see these concepts appear during the following school year. The Program uses a project and problems based learning approach where your student is continually engaged with their peers and the instructor. Additionally, technology is integrated daily to demonstrate ways students can continue learning at home. The Elevate [Math] programs are offered at NO COST to students and p arents! Does my student have to attend every session? The Elevate Program is just 4 or 5 weeks long; therefore, it is important that your student attends every session. Any absence will result in your student missing key concepts that will benefit them during the school year. By enrolling your child, you are Is my student eligible to enroll? What other events occur during the Elevate Program? Elevate [Math] targets students performing at the “Nearly Meeting Standards” level on their most recent SBAC exam. Our program is best suited for students in need of extra help to become successful in their next level math/science course. Students are also eligible based on teacher recommendations. Elevate [Math] 8 offers a field trip to a local college or university during one afternoon of the Program for 8th grade students. Students in other grade levels will have the opportunity to interact with corporate volunteers from local technology companies when they visit their classroom. In addition, all parents and students are invited to attend a College Information Night as well as an End of Program Celebration. Elevate [Math] supports incoming 7th, 8th, 9th, or 10th grade students. Check with your school to see if your child qualifies! When is the Elevate Program held? Typically, the Program is held from 8AM to 12PM, Monday through Friday. Elevate [Math] is held over 4-­‐weeks (19 half-­‐days) for 7th and 8th grade students and 5-­‐weeks (24-­‐half days) for 9th and 10th grade students. The Program could start as early as mid-­‐June and end as late as mid-­‐August. Does my student need any materials? Students will be given individual notebooks for use during the program. We suggest bringing pencils (and calculators if they have one). The Program dates and times are specific to each participating school district.
