Pump relay energized (2) The APF-Cleaner is provided with 6 LEDs to display the following: 1. 24 VAC power supply (1) 3. Cleaning during next pumping cycle (1) A steady light indicates that cleaning will be carried out the next time the pump is started. If this LED flashes, the APF-Cleaner system will carry out no cleaning. Check that switches 1 and 2 are in the ”normal” position. The APF-Cleaner system is designed to control the pump so that it will operate down to the lowest possible water level in the sump, i.e. down to the level at which air is drawn into the impeller. The pump will then be able to pump away the grease and dirt that normally always remain on the water surface. The action of entraining air at low operating depths, also promotes a high level of turbulence for a short period of the end of the pumping cycle. The turbulence will stir up some of the dirt and grease that normally collect on the sump floor, and these pollutants will then also be pumped away. The removal of both floating and settled solids during pumping reduces routine maintenance and sump cleaning, such as sparging and desludging, and significantly contributes to improved pump reliability. 4. Current indication (2) A steady light indicates measurement via the current transformer input. - Slow flashing Continuous slow flashing indicates that the current level is not correctly adapted. Measure the current and check the current transformer selected and the number of turns of the phase conductor through the transformer. The current from the transformer to the APF-Cleaner system should be between 40 and 60 mA. - Fast flashing When the pump is stopped, the LED will flash at a fast rate for about a second to indicate that the reference current had been read in. Stop function sensitivity 4. Time after start when stop functions are blocked 4 OPERATION OPERATION Cleaning During routine pumping cycles, the pump is started and stopped by the primary level control system. However, on a preselected number of cycles each 24 hours, the APFCleaner overrides the normal control sequence to initiate a ”cleaning” cycle. Phase lead, pump 1 Phase lead, pump 2 After the preselected period, the APF-Cleaner waits for the primary level control system to start the pump. The APF-Cleaner system detects this by means of a current transformer and closes its output relay in parallel with that of the ordinary control system. The APF-Cleaner system keeps its relay closed even after the ordinary control system has opened its relay, and pumping can then continue until the impeller begins to draw air. APF-Cleaner Number of cleaning cycles per 24 HRS: - can be preset on the front of the APF-Cleaner to 0, 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, 25 or 40 times per 24 hours (Fig. 2). Fig.2 Potentiometer for selecting the cleaning frequency Duty, pump 2 5A/20 V A small screwdriver can be used for setting the number of ”Cleaning cycles/24 h” (see Fig. 2). Duty, pump 1 5A/240 V Stop functions When the water in the sump has dropped to such a low level that the pump begins to draw air, the motor current will drop. The APF-Cleaner system detects this and stops the pump. The APF-Cleaner system measures the normal operating current of each pump during routine pumping cycles, by means of dedicated current transformers. These current values are stored in the processor memory and serve as reference values. Forced cleaning When the push-button marked ”Clean”/Set Iref is briefly depressed, the adjacent LED will light up as confirmation that cleaning will be carried out the next time the pump starts. 5 Supply 24 VAC STEP-BY-STEP INSTALLATION STEP-BY-STEP INSTALLATION 5. Connect the output relays of the APF-Cleaner system (9, 10; 11, 12). - Electronic control If the station is controlled by an electronic control system with output relays which control the pump operation, connect the output relays of the APF-Cleaner system in parallel with the output relays of the electronic control system (see Fig 4). 1. Before doing any work, check that the automatic control cubicle is disconnected from the power supply and cannot become live. APF-Cleaner Primary Control System 2. Connect the current transformers to the corresponding current measuring input (5, 6; 7, 8). Pump 1 Contactor Coil Pump 2 Contactor Coil Current transformers with a choice of four ratings are available, i.e. 10 A, 25 A, 50 A and 100 A. The phase conductor of the motor can be run through the current transformer core an additional number of turns, (see Fig 3) in accordance with the formula below, in order to put the available transformer capacity to full use. - Control by level regulator The switch in the stop level regulator is normally connected in a latched circuit which enables the pump to run until the level falls sufficiently to open the stop switch contact. The relays of the APF-Cleaner system can then be connected in parallel with the stop switches for each pump.. Number of turns = rated primary current of current transformer rated motor current (Round down to the next lowest integer value). Example: Rated current of motor = 12 A Primary current of current transformer = 25 A Number of turns = 25 A/12 A Answer = 2 P Start switch 9 APF-Cleaner P 24 VAC 10 11 12 15 16 Fig.5 Fig. 3 Two phase conductor turns Stop switch L1 L2 L3 If the rated motor current is in excess of the highest rated primary current of the transformers available (50 A), proceed as follows: Pump ~ If there is only one common stop switch, both relays of the APF-Cleaner system should be connected in parallel with the stop switch (see Fig 5). a. Use a standard current transformer which has a primary current rating only just in excess of the rated motor current and which has a rated secondary current of 5 A. b. Pass the lead, connecting to the secondary side of the standard current transformer, twice through the Flygt APF-Cleaner 10 A current transformer. The input current to the APF-Cleaner system can be checked and should be between 40 and 60 mA. 6 General data General data 6. Check the settings of the switches under the rubber cover (Fig. 1). Functions of the switches: Power supply: 24 VAC, +10%, –15%, 50 Hz–60 Hz 1. Stop function 1, normal/off - should be in the ”normal” position. Ambient conditions: 0–50°C, 90% relative humidity Power consumption: 5 VA 2. Stop function 2, normal/off - should be in the ”normal” position. Control logic: Intel microprocessor 3. High or normal current limit - this switch sets the stop sensitivity to 6% or 12% below the normal operating current (6% = high sensitivity, 12% = normal sensitivity). Data back-up: EEPROM Dimensions (W×H×D), mm: 45×90×115 Output relays: 5 A/240 VAC Resistive; 1.5 A/240 VAC Pilot duty/AC 12 4. Stop function inhibiting time of 15s or 50s - running time after the pump has started during which the stop functions must be inactive. The inhibiting time is necessary so that varying starting currents and possible closure of the flush valve will not lead to stoppage. Terminal wire size: Use 75°C copper (Cu) wire only. 0.2–4 mm2 single core, 0.2–2.5 mm2 flexible core, stripped length 8 mm Terminal tightening torque: 5–7 lbs-in (0.56–0.79 Nm) Compliance: CE and cUL One of the stop functions 1 or 2 must be in the normal position, since the APF-Cleaner system will otherwise not carry out any cleaning. Both of the stop functions should preferably be in the normal position so that stopping will be as reliable as possible. N.B. If the pump is equipped with a flush valve, the inhibiting time must be preset to 50s. 7. Reading-in the current value After a certain number of pump cycles, the APF-Cleaner system learns automatically the normal operating current of the pump. This is necessary for the stop function to operate. During commissioning, the normal current values can be read into the memory manually by depressing the pushbutton marked ”Clean”/Set Iref for longer than 4s (see Fig. 2). Bear in mind that the push-button must be depressed when the pump is running at full load. If the push-button is depressed for longer than 4s, the pump current at that time will be stored in the processor memory. An LED for current indication will then flash as acknowledgement of the current value having been read in. Note that this manual entry must be carried out for both. 7 Unit APF-Cleaner Part numbers 84 03 48 Current transformers: 10/0.55 A 25/0.55 A 50/0.055 A 100/0.055 A 83 95 85 83 95 86 83 95 87 83 95 59 PRODUKT-BESCHREIBUNG PRODUKTBESCHREIBUNG Angaben Die Pumpensumpf-Reinigungsautomatik APF-Cleaner ist eine Pumpensteuerung, die als Ergänzung zum normalen Steuersystem einer Einßelpump-Station oder Doppelpump-Station dient. 2. 11 APF Bestell-Nr. 84 03 48 Stromwandlers: 10/0.55 A 25/0.55 A 50/0.055 A 100/0.055 A 83 95 85 83 95 86 83 95 87 83 95 59 DESCRIPTIF DU PRODUIT DESCRIPTIF DU PRODUIT Indications Les indications nécessaires sont fournies par six diodes: 1. Tension d’alimentation 24 VAC (nombre: 1) 2. 27 Xylem |’zīləm| 1) The tissue in plants that brings water upward from the roots 2) A leading global water technology company We're 12,000 people unified in a common purpose: creating innovative solutions to meet our world's water needs.
