The California Assessment of Student
Performance and Progress is set for the
month of May. This is a standardized test
that aligns with the Common Core State Standards and will be taken by
students in grades 3-8 in public schools across California. This is the
second year we will take this test at Mesa Union. Last year we did
incredibly well. I encourage all families to take a practice test
at http://www.caaspp.org/practice-and-training/index.html.
Here are some useful strategies to discuss with you kids:
1) Take the practice test with your child and get comfortable using the
notepad and the flagging a question for follow up tabs. Click on this
address in your browser: https://www.youtube.com/watch?
v=iXp5l7oiGrE
2) Remind your children that this test is a picture of where they are at a
particular point in time, not a judgment of who they are as a person.
3) Remind your children to be patient! Children tend to work very
quickly when they are using technology. Children will have as much
time as they need to finish the test.
Announcements
 Mesa Math Night
Come to our Mesa Math Night this Tuesday from 6:00pm7:30pm. We will have engaging and thoughtful activities for children
and adults centered around 21st century learning skills and strategies.
Mesa teachers are excited to help you become better teachers and
learners. We will serve light refreshments and raffle off a prize!
 Call for Kinder Costumes
Room 2 will soon be putting on a musical: The Three Piggy Opera, it is a
musical about the story of the Three Little Pigs. We do not have any of
the costumes and would like to ask for donations. If you have any old
animal costumes or masks that would fit a kindergartner, we would
love to use it! Thank you for any assistance! Please send your
donations to the office labeled "Room 2".

We have many clothes that have been left by our children. This week

http://www.caaspp.org/practice-and-training/index.html.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXp5l7oiGrE
