Teach us to give and not count the cost.

T
his weekend's meditation on what it means to
be "God's Servant in the world," is centered on
God's Bounty. So often we feel like we have
so very little to give to any situation--an elderly parent
may have nothing material left to offer to an adult child
who is floundering, a teacher may feel he or she to be
without resources to deal with the "stuff" their students
bring with them into the classroom, there could be thousands of example of ways we feel inadequate. Yet, God
provides! YOU are enough--the fact that you care at all.
Someone knows that they are not alone, and that is truly
enough. The first reading tells us that money isn't the
answer to anything--don't even bring it! (Of course, you
SHOULD bring it to church....er, ah, harrumph!) The
point is that it isn't money the world needs to be better,
it's YOU, with your connections to Higher Places! And
the Gospel illustrates the first reading--it was in a desolate and deserted place that Christ met the crowds--just
as we, in our poverty of spiritual resources, meet those
who come to us--and our first reaction is "money," and
what will it take to get this person OK...but the Text
says, "Step back!" The real resources are already in your
heart, your mind, your experience, your hope--share that-what little you have, and it will be more than enough,
and the one you are helping will have something to give
to others, too! Did you need this lesson today? I know I
did!

a meditación de esta semana de lo que significa ser el “Servidor de Dios en este mundo,” trata sobre la Abundancia de Dios. Seguido sentimos que tenemos muy poco para ofrecer en
alguna situación– un padre de edad quizá no tenga algo
material que ofrecer a un joven que se está tropezando,
una maestra a lo mejor se sienta que no tiene los recursos para poder ayudarle a sus estudiantes, hay miles de
ejemplos donde nos sentimos incapaces. Sin embargo,
¡Dios provee! TÚ eres suficiente– el hecho de que te
preocupas. Alguien sabe que no está solo y en verdad
que eso es suficiente. La primera lectura nos dice que el
dinero no es la respuesta- ¡Ni lo traigas! (claro, tráiganlo a la iglesia, eh, ejem, eh). ¡El punto es que no es el
dinero que debe mejorar, sino tú, con lugares más elevados! Y el Evangelio nos ilustra la primera la lectura–
es en un desierto que Cristo se encuentra con la multitud– así como nosotros, pobres de recursos, y hay quienes nos buscan– y nuestra primera reacción es el
“dinero,” y qué se necesita para ganarnos a la persona… pero el Texto dice que los verdaderos recursos
están en tu corazón, en tu mente, en tu experiencia, en
tu esperanza– compártelo– lo poco que tengamos, y
será más que suficiente, ¡y a quien ayudas también
tendrá algo que ofrecer a los demás! ¿Necesitas de esta
lección el día de hoy? Yo sí.

ur readings today talk about the generosity of God through miracles.
How many of us today explain miracles away with science or other causes. The
Gospel miracles were told to tell us about God's
generosity and love for us. Instead of explaining
them away, maybe we should be reading them
more and asking ourselves how God works in
my life. Where do I see little miracles happening, little things that can't really be explained
away. Then take the time to thank God for these
and share His abundant gifts with others.

Once again offering parishioners and guests easy steps to work
with your dream and their meaning. It's been awhile since we last
met, and you have continued to ask when we can meet again. We
have scheduled TODAY, August 3 from 12:30 to 2:30 PM as
our gathering time. Location to be at St. Agatha and exact meeting
space finalized closer to the date. We will offer a refresher introduction and answer any initial question you might have. As time
permits we can work on one or two dreams so come with your
journals and written description of your dream.
