SPACE MATADERO, Madrid ESTO SÌ ES UN LADRILLO #1,#2 (THIS REALLY IS A BRICK#1,#2) DESCRIPTION This project approaches the complex topic of historical remembering in the cityscape of Madrid via the object of a brick. The brick establishes memories of the prison Carabanchel which was inaugurated in 1944 and built by the political prisoners that were held in the Saint Ginés College at the time. In particular, the college saved a group of political prisoners who had united in their struggle for democratic freedom. Memories of the lives and struggles in and across the prison became hidden further with the demolition of the Carabanchel building in 2008.
