Instructions: Together with your family, select a door in your house

DEDICATION OF A HOUSEHOLD DOOR OF MERCY FOR THE HOLY YEAR OF MERCY 1
Instructions: Together with your family, select a door in your house that would remind everyone about the
Year of Mercy. It may be a good idea to select the main entrance door. You can also select
other doors in your home.
Prepare:
A bowl of water and a branch with which to sprinkle the doorway. Have it ready as you begin
the prayer. Assign readers and someone to hold the bowl of water.
When all are ready to dedicate the door, gather in front of the closed door and proceed with
the following prayer
Reader one: Why a door? – Jesus says: “I am the door. Those who come in by me will be saved; they will
come in and go out and find pasture.” (John 10:9) – Because we need on-going conversion, we
pray that whoever passes through the door may “leave the past behind and cross the threshold
from sin to grace, from slavery to freedom, and from darkness to light.” 2 Since MERCY is the
theme for this Holy Year, when we cross this door let us remember God’s infinite mercy and be
ready to show mercy to others.
Reader two: Merciful and compassionate God, as your children and members of your holy Church, we
recognize mercy as the very foundation of our life. We pray that in all our activities we be
caught up in your tenderness; and that we may be witnesses of merciful and compassionate
love to all.
All:
Amen
Reader three: We dedicate this door as a particular symbol of your unconditional gift of love and mercy. We
pray that all who cross its threshold be filled with a sense of forgiveness and be drawn to show
compassion to all, most especially for those who are poor and afflicted.
All:
Amen
At this time, open the door and invite those gathered to walk through the threshold one at a time. As they do,
let each one sprinkle the doorway using the branch and the water. While each one blesses the door and walks
through the threshold, the group calls their name out loud saying:
All:
(Name)
be merciful just as your father is merciful!
When all have crossed and blessed the door, proceed with the following:
Reader four: Good and merciful God, knowing that we are all your children, we raise our prayer to you as
sisters and brothers…
All:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name;
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Reader five:
May God bless us all and make us merciful to one another. In the name of the Father, and the
Son and the Holy Spirit.
All:
Amen

DEDICACIÓN DE UNA PUERTA DE MISERICORDIA EN EL HOGAR PARA EL AÑO SANTO DE MISERICORDIA 3
Instrucciones: Permita que toda la familia escoja una puerta de su casa que les recuerde sobre el Año de la
Misericordia. Pueden elegir la puerta principal del hogar o seleccionar otras puertas.
Prepare:
Un recipiente con agua y una rama verde para rosear la puerta. Ténganlo a la mano al iniciar la
oración. Asigne lectores y alguien que sostenga el recipiente con agua. Cuando estén listos
para dedicar la puerta, reúnanse frente a la puerta cerrada y procedan con la siguiente oración.
Lector uno:
¿Por qué una puerta? Jesús dice: “Yo soy la puerta: quien por mí entre, se salvará. Será como
una oveja que entra y sale y encuentra pastos.” (Juan 10: 9) – Reconociendo que necesitamos
conversión continua, oramos para que todos los que atraviesan la puerta “abandonen el pasado
y crucen el umbral del pecado a la gracia, de la esclavitud a la libertad y de la obscuridad a la
luz.” 4 Ya que la MISERICORDIA es el tema del Año Santo, esperamos que, cuando crucemos
esta puerta recordemos el abrazo infinito y misericordioso de Dios y nos preparemos para ser
misericordiosos con los demás.
Lector dos:
Dios de compasión y misericordia, como hijas e hijos tuyos y miembros de tu Iglesia,
reconocemos que la misericordia debe ser la fundación de nuestras vidas. Te pedimos que en
todas nuestras actividades seamos recogidos en tu ternura; y que seamos testigos del amor
misericordioso y compasivo para todos.
Todos:
Amen
Lector tres:
Dedicamos esta puerta como un símbolo particular de tu amor y misericordia incondicionales.
Te pedimos que todos los que crucen sus umbrales se llenen de una sensación de perdón y sean
atraídos a dar muestras de compasión para todos, especialmente para los pobres y afligidos.
Todos:
Amen
Abra la puerta e invite a todos a cruzar el umbral, uno por uno. Cuando cada persona está cruzando,
permítale que rosee el umbral usando el agua y la rama. Mientras cada uno lo bendice y atraviesa, el grupo le
llama por su nombre y le dice en voz alta:
Todos:
(Nombre)
¡sé misericordioso como tu padre es misericordioso!
Cuando todos hayan cruzado la puerta, proceda con lo siguiente:
Lector cuatro: Padre de bondad y misericordia, escucha la oración de tus hijos e hijas…
Todos:
Padre nuestro, que estás en el cielo,
santificado sea tu Nombre; venga a nosotros tu reino;
hágase tu voluntad en la tierra como en el cielo.
Danos hoy nuestro pan de cada día;
perdona nuestras ofensas, como también nosotros perdonamos
a los que nos ofenden;
no nos dejes caer en la tentación, y líbranos del mal. Amen.
Lector cinco: Que Dios nos bendiga y nos transforme para ser misericordiosos unos con otros. En el nombre
del Padre, del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo.
Todos:
Amen
Compartan un gesto de paz y disfruten un momento de diversión y convivencia.
