[Dallas, TX] – [New cards are coming soon! Texas redistricting plans have caused a delay in mailing new and renewal Voter Registration Certificates throughout the State of Texas, including in Dallas County. With respect to the Primary Elections, new Voter Registration Certificates (cards) valid from Jan. 1, 2012, through Dec. 31, 2013 will be mailed to all Dallas County registered voters after the Texas Redistricting maps are finalized by the Federal Courts. The process for mailing and distribution of the new cards will take four to six weeks. This does not mean you cannot vote. Voters need not call elections administration at the County to solicit new cards!] The Texas Redistricting process has caused a change to the Primary Election date. The courts have set a potential date of May 29th. The new 2012 election schedule will be communicated through all media channels and will be posted on the Dallas County Elections website as soon as the dates are confirmed. Regarding Local and School District Elections – these elections will be held on May 12th. Again, Dallas County will mail new voter registration cards for this election. Eligible voters who have not received a new card on time are still registered to vote and are free to go the polls using any approved form of identification (see website).
