My suggestion would be for the citizens to obtain a permit to build faster and with less cost. Is
too long the wait to obtain a permit and is too expensive. Thank you.
Mi preocupación es que tengo a mi esposo enfermo y yo trabajo para mis gastos de mi casa

Creo que necesitamos secundaria viviendas pero me preocupa que después estemos sobre
poblados y tengamos problemas de cualquier tipo de peligro.
I think we need second dwellings but I worry that later we will be over populated and have
renting problems and be in different types of dangerous.
Mis preocupaciones es que sino a asisto lo que queremos I nos escuchen pues otra personas
pueden tener pero ojala y pónganse la mano en su corazón paraqué no sienta mas

My concern is that the people who have a 2nd unit in service will have to be ask to tear down to
modify and those people will not have the money for the construction what will happen then?
Suggestion: that the City would have a below market fund so that the people could fix their 2nd

Is that the taxes will increase and we cannot pay and that the rent in the City will be expensive
and we will not be able to live here.

One of my concerns is that there are many families that are in low income and they can lose

we are a community and need to be treated with respect.

porque yo dependo de ella en primer lugar tengo familia grande y segundo lugar es que
necesito de la segunda unidad para pagar mi apoteca de otra manera perdería mi hogar
por o tener suficiente salario para poder sostener mi hogar.
My concern is that the City of East Palo Alto won’t let me gave a second unit because I depend
on it first of all because I have a large Family and second of all because I need the second unit
for my mortgage otherwise I would lose my home because I won’t have enough salary to sustain
my home.

Lo que me preocupa que vayan a querer cobrar mucho por la conversión de los garajes o
por los permisos y pues también que si es un garaje que ya a sido arreglado y que hagan
que ponga drenaje solo para el garaje y electricidad aparte, yo quiero que se tome en
cuenta que si ya está hecho o convertido y lo chequean y pasa la inspección pues que
permitan legalizarlo solo aquellos que apenas van a hacer convertidos pues que ya los
hagan con todas las regulaciones y pues también que no vayan a ver muchos impuestos por
esa modificación. También que no hagan a uno hacer otro garaje para los carros, respecto
a los carros por casa que dependa de lo grande que sea la propiedad porque si es propiedad
chica y con muchos carros como que no, entonces todo según el lugar y la necesidad y pues
cuando alguien quiera sacar un permiso, que no pongan tantas trabas.
What concerns me that they might want to charge allot for the garage conversions or for the
permits and also that if is a garage that is already in place and if they make me add sewer only
for the garage and separate electricity, I want for it to consider that if the garage is already in
place and converted and is inspected and it passes the inspection well that they let us legalize it
but to those who are barely trying to convert a second unit they should make sure they follow the
codes and also that there should be too many taxes because of the modification. Also that they
don’t make us build a new garage for the cars, in regards to the cars to let it depend on the size
of the house because if is a small property and with lots of cars, well that won’t work, then I
think it should be depending on the place and the need and well when someone wants to request
a permit that the city won’t make it so restricted.

We don’t want the garage conversions to be removed because of necessity that the people have
and they need the space. We all agree for them not to be removed that is why we all meet to

I do not agree with what the city wants to do because we don’t have Money for another

I used to live in Redwood City for 22 years and now my place of residence is the City of
East Palo Alto. To get a building permit in Redwood City it is called express appointment
having plans in less than a week you are already building! To get the same permit in EPA
nobody knows how long to start building. I would like to see same express process from
Redwood City! By the way love living in East Palo Alto.
Yo antes vivía en Redwood City por 22 años y ahora vivo en East Palo Alto. Para agarrar un
permiso para construir en Redwood City lo llaman cita rápida teniendo los planos en menos de
una semana ya estas construyendo! Para agarrar el mismo permiso aquí en EPA nadie sabe
cuánto tiempo durara para construir. Me gustaría mirar el mismo proceso rápido como el de
Redwood City! Y también me encanta vivir en East Palo Alto.
(Como ceda cuenta en mi letra no se escribir pero lo poco que se lo tratare para algo muy
importante) Mi preocupación es que si no hay oportunidad de un beneficio adónde vamos a
llegar con nuestros hijos en las escuelas porque yo tengo 4 somos familia de 6 y de bajos
ingresos para mí personalmente. Como dueño una segunda vivienda me ayuda a pagar mi
casa; quiero que se permitan para seguir viviendo aquí.

for something important). My concern is that if the opportunity is not given where will we and up
with our children in the school because I have 4, we are a family of 6 and low income

luchamos por tener un hogar para nuestros hijos y nosotros mismos.
De corazón les pido a los trabajadores de la ciudad ustedes tienen el poder ayudarnos. No
nos miren como que debemos irnos a otro lado una buena ciudad es cuando resuelven los
problemas por ejemplo como este problema somos pobres y por eso estamos felices en East
Palo Alto.
My concern is that our city people would work for our problems and together find a solution for
our needs because we are poor, if we had money we would live by ourselves in our home but we
accept the reality and every day we fight to have a home for our children and ourselves.
From the bottom of my heart I ask the city workers, you have the power to help us. Don’t look at
us like we need to move out from the city, fix the problem for example we are poor and that is
why we live happy in East Palo Alto.

sea flexible en hacer cambios necesarios en las leyes de construcción y de la ciudad para
aprobación de segundas unidades esto beneficiaria a la población, a la ciudad y a los

todos y tener una comunicad más seguras.
My concern is that the city won’t be concern about the East Palo Alto people. They need to be
flexible in making the necessary changes that pertains to the construction’s laws for second
dwelling I think this will benefit the people as owners and the city.
My suggestion: that the laws they implement won’t be to impossible to abbey and this way help
each other and our community can be safer.
Que va pasar con los que están construidas las van a tumbar si así no alcanza el dinero

What is going to happen to the 2nd Units that are already build are they going t tear them down.
With them the money is not enough, imagine without it we ask for your help because we are
losing our employments.

para vivir a gusto. Yo no puedo dormir pensando cuando va a venir la ciudad.
My concern is that they will remove the garages, give permit, to charge for the permit to live in
peace. I cannot sleep thinking when will the city come.

My great concern is the need we need to have homes that are safe and accessible to low income

is the only way to help me pay for my mortgage. My suggestion is that the City can touch their
hearts and see that there are almost one hundred percent standing because of a necessity.

gustaría que hubiera más actividades para las personas mayores.
I would like for the conversions to be approve because I have families who wants to come live
with me so help each other and have a better life. I suggest that they approve the permits. And I
would like for there to be more activities for seniors.
