Gobierno de Gibraltar: Ministerio de Turismo, Asuntos Comerciales, Transporte Público y Puerto Portal web del Festival Literario Internacional de Gibraltar Gibunco Gibraltar, 11 de septiembre de 2013 El Festival Literario Internacional de Gibraltar Gibunco (Gibunco Gibraltar International Literary Festival) lanza hoy su portal web oficial. Mediante un clic en www.gibraltarliteraryfestival.com, los visitantes de la web podrán adquirir sus entradas para el festival de este año y suscribirse a la revista electrónica oficial, que contiene las últimas noticias e información sobre los autores participantes y eventos del festival. El Festival, el primero de este género en el Peñón, es resultado de una iniciativa del Gobierno de Gibraltar y está dirigido por los organizadores del Festival Literario de Oxford. Tendrá lugar desde el viernes 25 al domingo 27 de octubre de 2013. Además de una selección estelar de autores internacionales, incluyendo a la galardonada Joanne Harris y al ganador del premio Man Booker, Ben Okri, el programa refleja el rico patrimonio cultural que ha generado el emplazamiento de Gibraltar, entre Europa y África, así como la influencia del Mediterráneo y el Atlántico. Richard Hamilton explicara la historia sobre cómo logró localizar a los últimos narradores de historias de la medina de Marrakech para conservar sus historias en su libro, “The Last Storytellers: Tales from the Heart of Morocco” (Los últimos narradores: Historias del corazón de Marruecos). Por su parte, Tom Mogford y Jason Webster, autores de novelas de intriga ambientadas en el Mediterráneo, traerán una atmosfera de peligro y emoción al Festival, hablando de crímenes bajo el sol. El novelista y exministro de cultura marroquí, Mohammed Achaari, también participará en el evento, junto con un amplio abanico de autores españoles, incluyendo a Mercedes Aguirre. Tres de los más celebres chefs y autores de libros de cocina, Claudia Roden, Ken Hom y Madhur Jaffrey, traerán a Gibraltar sabores de todo el mundo. Otros conocidos trotamundos que también acudirán al Festival serán la antigua corresponsal en el extranjero de la BBC Kate Adie y, más cercanos a casa, el dúo autor de novelas de misterio, Sam Benady y Mary Chiappe. “El lanzamiento de la web del Festival, que permite adquirir las entradas para los múltiples eventos del programa, nos acerca un poco más a lo que promete ser una de las principales citas en el calendario cultural de Gibraltar”, dijo el Ministro de Turismo, Asuntos Comerciales, Transporte Público y Puerto, Neil Costa. “Gibraltar nunca antes había visto un elenco de autores de tanto talento reunirse para celebrar su riqueza literaria con nosotros. Estoy encantado de que algunos de nuestros propios autores locales vayan a tener la oportunidad de compartir sus historias con escritores de semejante renombre internacional. Personalmente, estoy deseando acudir al mayor número de eventos posible y animo a todos aquellos que estén interesados en la literatura a que hagan lo mismo”. 11/09/2013

The Gibunco Gibraltar International Literary Festival website
The Gibunco Gibraltar International Literary Festival today launches its official festival
website. By clicking onto gibraltarliteraryfestival.com, visitors can now buy tickets for
this year’s festival and subscribe to the official e-zine containing all the latest news as
well as information on authors and events taking place at the festival.
The Festival, the first of its kind on the Rock, is an initiative of Her Majesty’s
Government of Gibraltar and is directed by the organisers of the Oxford Literary
Festival. It takes place from Friday 25th- Sunday 27th October 2013. Alongside a
stellar line-up of international authors including prize-winning author Joanne Harris
and Man Booker Prize winner Ben Okri, the programme reflects the rich cultural
heritage that comes from Gibraltar’s location between Europe and Africa and from
the influence of the Mediterranean and the Atlantic.
Richard Hamilton will recount the tale of how he tracked down the last few remaining
storytellers of the Marrakech Medina to record their tales for his book, The Last
Storytellers: Tales from the Heart of Morocco. Whilst Tom Mogford and Jason
Webster authors of thrillers set in the Mediterranean will bring a sense of danger to
the Festival as they discuss crime in the sun. Novelist, and former Moroccan culture
minister, Mohammed Achaari will take part in an event, as will a range of Spanish
authors including Mercedes Aguirre.
Three of the world’s most celebrated chefs and cookery writers, Claudia Roden, Ken
Hom and Madhur Jaffrey will bring flavours from around the world to Gibraltar; other
well-known globetrotters joining the Festival include former BBC foreign
correspondent Kate Adie, and, from closer to home, the Gibraltar mystery writing duo
Sam Benady and Mary Chiappe.
"The launch of the Festival website, which has the capability of selling tickets for all of
the numerous events in the programme, brings us a step closer to what promises to
become one of the major highlights of Gibraltar's cultural calendar", said The Hon
