Student Chapter Annual Report Form
This form is used to report on Student Chapter activities over the previous year. The report provides a useful medium to document the status and progress of individual chapters. Annual Reports are used to evaluate applications for SEG support and to
keep information up-to-date on the SEG website. Please provide a summary of chapter activities in a concise form as suggested below. Description of programs may be supported by a limited number of photographs and figures in a format appropriate
for publishing on our website.

SUMMARY OF ANNUAL ACTIVIES
1. Regular meetings
- Meetings are once every two weeks
- Electing new Executive Committee for period 2016 – 2017. We kept president and vicepresident
after votation.
- Planning and organization of talks, workshops, future courses and field trips.
- We kept communication with others Chilean Student Chapters, Peruvian Student Chapters,
Argentinian Student Chapters and Bolivian Student Chapters.
- Recruit new members. With previously talk about SEG and Student Chapter.
2. Field trips
We went to Lomas Bayas mine with Dr. William Chávez (Master Programme in Economic Geology
with mention in Mining Exploration, Universidad Católica del Norte).
Fieldtrip by the day. It was on June 23th 2016.
3. Organization of conferences, workshops, short courses
Since last year, we invited oldest students, to share their memorys for geologist title on a talk. After
talk, we and all the students go on workshop, prepared by us to get funds. We called this activities
“Geoloquios” and we make it with the Centre of Geology' Students.

del peligro sísmico.” (Memory for geologist title)
Speaker: Pre-grade student Camilo Rojas. (Actually geologist)
March 11th, 2016
Geoloquio Talk: “Análisis Comparativo de la Evolución del Relieve del Antearco ariqueño y
antofagastino durante el Cenozoico.” (Memory for geologist title)
Speaker: Pre-grade student Lester Olivares. (Actually geologist)
May 6th, 2016
Geoloquio Talk: “Deformación de la Corteza Superior y su relación con la Evolución Geomorfológica
Cenozoica del antearco del Norte de Chile (24-25°S).” (Memory for geologist title)
Speaker: Pre-grade student Sebastian Villar. (Actually geologist)
June 20th to June 24th, 2016
Course: “Supergene Processes” imparted by Dr. William Chávez, on Master Programme in Economic
Geology with mention in Mining Exploration from our university. This course included a fieldtrip to
Lomas Bayas mine, and certification for us. This activity is detailed in Student Chapter on Master
Programme report**
5. Fund raising programs
Apart from the “Geoloquios” we did some night workshops, only for earn funds. We made on May
20th, June 17th and September 15th of this year.
Furthermore, we do raffles once every month.
6. Future Plans
- We are talking with the Bolivian Student Chapter from La Paz. We want to visit them and go to
different places of interest. It is a project on construction.
- We are talking and seeing possibilities to participate again on another course of Master
Programme in Economic Geology.
