K: We learned the rules of Spanish class (Be safe, Be kind, Be respectful), and how to
answer, “¿Cómo te llamas?” (“What is your name?”) with “Me llamo ____” (“My name is
______.”). We also made a self-portrait!

1st: We read Oso pardo, oso pardo by Bill Martin and talked about los colores. We also
read Margaret and Margarita by Lynn Reiser and talked about what we like (Me gusta).

2nd: We reviewed our colors, read Paplotes by Bettina Ling, and worked on our own
papalotes booklet. We also answered Señora when she asked us, “¿Qué color es?”

3rd: We worked with pictures to make and understand sentences en español!
The homework is to finish making the flashcards (pictures on one side, the Spanish word
on the other).
4th:
We learned how to say 4 special Spanish sounds (j, h, ll, ñ). We also started talking
using our symbol sentences. The homework is to write three words in the vocabulary
journal pages. (NO sentences yet.)
5th: We reviewed the verb “ser” and family vocabulary. Then we started creating a story.
The homework is to write 2 sentences.
6th: We learned the new verb, “hay” and went over chores vocabulary. We also played
charades!
The homework is to learn the new phrases and to complete activity #31 on the ws p. 81.
7th and 8th We learned about “I go” or “yo go” verbs. We also started creating a story
together en español. The
The homework is to study for the vocabulary quiz and to complete wb. p. 34 #44.
