Today, more and more people are concerned about the environment than some
years ago. Even businesses are aware that it makes sense for them to be ecological.
They do this because they know that more people will buy their products when they
read that information.
As far as countries are concerned, Australia can claim to be a pioneer in caring
for the environment. There is a vast natural wealth in Australia and the country has long
been conscious of its responsibility to preserve that wealth for future generations. There
are many species of animals which you only find in Australia or in very few other
places. When children visit the Zoo in their own countries they love to see kangaroos,
opossums and koalas. A vast number of plants are also only found there, including types
of trees which are capable of surviving the famous Australian bush fires. Australia has
been passing very strict rules about endangered species for a long time and many
souvenirs which are legal in other countries are illegal there.
