Our Journey with Stem Cell Transplant Si usted desea esta información en español, por favor pídasela a su enfermero o doctor. I can tell you what type of central line my child has. Your child may need to have a special IV put in. This IV is called a central line. It is a small tube (catheter) that is passed through a vein to end up in a large vein inside the chest or in the right atrium of the heart. The central line is used for lab draws, transfusions, and for giving medications. The Bone Marrow Transplant team will discuss with you which type of central line will be used for your child. There are many types of central lines including: • Apheresis catheter: Ash-Split • Central line/Port: Hickman: Broviac, MedComp, Portacath • PICC: Arrow, Groshong Disclaimer The information provided at this site is intended to be general information, and is provided for educational purposes only.
