Why did we paint these murals called "Yesterday

Why did we paint these murals called "Yesterday Today No More"?
Because YESTERDAY it shouldn't have happened. TODAY we need to show what happened and still happens.
NO MORE is what we yell when we fight and when we are faced with injustice. We want to be heard, we need
hope, so that they will keep smiling... JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE CHILDREN.
Murals painted in Plazoleta La Victoria, a small square in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina depicting various
kinds of abuse, violence, ill treatment and exploitation which children and teenagers suffer all over the world.
1.Human Rights Mural:
Artist: Mirela Vega
Description: “Children want to study and play, let's say NO to child labour". "I want to study, don't make me
work". Every child has the right to have a home and a family and not to work, because children are not born
for that, they are born to have a home, to live their childhood to the full, to be healthy and have an education.
2.Mural against Exploitation Title: Child labour
Artist: Jennifer Alfonzo.
Description: Children who grow up in the poorest households and in rural areas are more likely to be victims
of child labour. In general, housework is mostly a girl's duty. The millions of girls who are domestic workers
are exposed to exploitation and abuse. Work usually interferes with a child's education. Making sure that all
children go to school and receive quality education is the key to prevent child labour.

3.Mural against Abuse: Title: Treatment… Ill Treatment
Artist: Marga Panic
Description: Los diferentes problemas de violencia requieren de distintos tratamientos y las condiciones para
trabajarlas deberían ser analizadas y desarrolladas por todos los actores sociales de una comunidad. Debemos

aprender de los errores de nuestro pasado histórico, es necesario proponernos tratarnos bien, recuperando la
palabra y el diálogo como forma de comunicación y resolución de los conflictos. Así como existe el maltrato,
puede existir el buen trato. No debemos resignarnos a vivir en un mundo violento, debemos intentar transformar
la cultura de la violencia en la cultura del BUEN TRATO.
4.Mural against Trafficking: Title: Slaves, Books by Alicia Peresutti.
Description: Alicia Peressutti rescata del olvido historias de violencia, prostitución, de trata de personas, de
muerte, con una sensibilidad que solo es posible desde el recorrido que tiene en la problemática, le ha puesto
voz a cientos de niños, niñas, adolescentes y mujeres, que en las páginas de sus novelas cobran vida y
gritan sus historias. Cada relato está basado en vivencias reales, que merecen ser leídas, que merecen…
ser contadas.
5.Mural against Begging: Title: Traces of Reality
Artist: Paola Hippener
Description: Creadora del Ayer Hoy No Más. Paola Nos cuenta que fue el comienzo de su camino de vida,
que no eligió… pero vivió. Pudo entender que AYER… no tenía que suceder. El HOY tomo 10 imágenes (10
fecha de su nacimiento) las cuales siente y tomo como propias para mostrar que paso y sigue pasando. NO
MAS es su grito de esperanza para que sigan sonriendo y siendo simplemente NIÑ@s.
6.Mural against Inequality: Title: “Being able to learn”
Artist: Vinicius
Description: It refers to a child's access to “an education that develops his or her personality, aptitudes and
physical and mental skills to their maximum potential”. The main figure has an open book on his forehead,
representing awareness, education and school, and a butterfly, the symbol of transformation and freedom.
7.Mural Against Abuse and Violence: Title: BASTA (ENOUGH)
Artist: Mauro Ramírez.
Description: Mauro nos cuenta que esta imagen nace a través de un pedido de justicia desde el año 2013
por un hecho de abuso infantil ocurrido en el jardín 901 de Padua, Provincia de Buenos Aires, donde su
sobrina fue víctima. Triste realidad que no fue fácil de afrontar pero con el amor, contención de la familia
y profesionales pudieron seguir adelante y continuar la lucha para que los culpables reciban el castigo que
merecen. Su intención como artista fue sumarse a esta lucha y a través del arte expresar lo que sentía con
una imagen que sea directa y con la fuerza suficiente para que pueda llegar y trasmitir a todo el que la vea.
No debemos hacer oídos sordos a las palabras de los niños y niñas. Escucharlos y atender a sus miedos y
relatos, es un paso importante para evitar y combatir los casos de abuso y violencia que atentan contra su
niñez. La niñez debe ser un mundo de magia, juegos y colores.
