He is well-known for his broad expertise in all aspects of IP law, including patents, trademarks, designs, copyrights, as well as unfair competition issues. He is specialised in IP litigation, and mainly in patent litigation, before the Spanish commercial, criminal and administrative courts. He also has experience in ICC arbitration proceedings relating to contractual disputes concerning IP rights. DOSSIERS SIGNIFICATIFS Representing Seiko Epson Corporation for over five years directing the Company’s litigation strategy in Spain for the protection and enforcement of their patent, designs and trademark rights. Successfully represented Guala Closures, the worldwide leading group in the manufacturing of safety closures, in arbitration proceedings brought against Plastivit before the ICC Court of Arbitration, for breach of a license agreement over two of Guala Closures’ patents. The case was an important one for Guala since parallel proceedings for the infringement of these two patents were also running in Spain, Mexico and Colombia. Represented and advised Sony in customs actions and patent infringement & interim relief proceedings brought in Spain by the South Korean company LG in relation to Sony’s well-known and topselling PlayStation3 (PS3) consoles, in a wider context of a worldwide battle that LG and Sony have maintained over recent years in relation to the cross-licensing of their respective patent portfolios, related to a large extent to standardized technologies. The case was finally settled as part of a global agreement between the parties to put an end to all the ongoing proceedings related to their essential patents. Represented and advised Philips in patent disputes against a manufacturer of TV sets and its distributors in Spain in relation to TV technology. Representing and advising MSD and Intervet in patent infringement and interim relief proceedings brought in Spain against a global competitor in relation with veterinary products. Successfully obtained an ex parte interim injunction in 48 hours. Representing and advising SCA (formerly Georgia Pacific France) in patent infringement proceedings against a Spanish competitor in relation with paper dispensers.
