Dear Parent,
McAllen ISD is offering 7th grade students the opportunity to participate in an Algebra I Pre-AP class during the 20132014 school year. In order to be eligible for Algebra I Pre-AP, your student will need to take two assessments on the
same day in which they will need to meet a certain score. Furthermore, the student will also be judged on how they
perform on the Math STAAR test.
To begin this process, your child will be given two tests during school time. One will be administered in the morning in
which they will have two and half hours to complete and the second one will be administered in the afternoon on the same
day. This test will take about an hour to complete. The testing schedule is as follows:

El distrito escolar de McAllen está ofreciendo a sus estudiantes de séptimo grado la oportunidad de participar en clases de
Algebra I Pre-AP durante el año escolar 2013-2014. Para poder ser elegibles a la clase de Algebra I Pre-AP, su hijo/a
tendrá que presentar dos exámenes durante un dia escolar y obtener la calificación requerida. Además, los estudiantes
