St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church
Holy Week truly is the week of mercy as God reveals the depth of His love for us in
His Son giving His life on the cross. During this week we are reminded in a most vivid
manner that “God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes
in Him may not die but may have eternal life. God did not send His Son into the
world to condemn the world but that the world might be saved through Him” (Jn 3, 1617). Let us celebrate these most sacred days with a merciful heart. Holy Week becomes “holy” for us when, like Jesus, we are able to forget ourselves in the love and
service of others.
La Semana Santa es ciertamente la Semana de la Misericordia, porque en ella Dios
nos revela la profundidad de su amor por nosotros en la entrega de su Hijo en la cruz.
Durante esta semana, se nos recuerda de modo elocuente que “tanto amó Dios al
mundo que le entregó a su único Hijo para que todo el que crea en El no muera sino
que tenga vida eterna, porque Dios no envió a su Hijo al mundo para condenar al
mundo sino para que el mundo se salve por medio de El” (Jn 3, 16-17). Celebremos
estos días santos con un corazón misericordioso. La Semana Santa es realmente
“Santa” para nosotros cuando, como Jesús, somos capaces de olvidarnos de nosotros
mismos para amar y servir a los demás.
