Sus caminos de formación son de lo más dispar: Accio es un fascista hosco y peleón, Manrico un comunista atractivo y políticamente comprometido. Los dos se ven enfrentados en una etapa de grandes pasiones y de agitación social y cultural. El cariño común por Francesca y el continuo cambio de un momento histórico especialmente duro, pondrán a prueba su tempestuosa relación, que sin embargo siempre ha estado marcada por el afecto recíproco y la solidaridad.
