Fitzgerald: A new priest resident… On August 16, we will be hosting a new priest resident, Fr. Carlo Calleja, a priest from Malta who will be pursuing a Doctoral degree in Theology at Boston College. I have asked Fr. Carlo to provide some biographical information as follows: “My name is Fr. Carlo and I am 34 years old from Malta, a tiny island in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea with a population of about 450,000 people. After working for two and one half years in an acute rehabilitation hospital as a qualified physical therapist, in 2008, I decided to finally respond to God’s call and to start my formation towards the priesthood. I was ordained a deacon on November 9, 2014 and a priest on July 3, 2015, during which time I was serving in a village in the south of the island while completing my final studies in theology. I have now been asked by my Bishop to pursue a course in Christian ethics at Boston College, which will last 4 or 5 years. Fr. Fitzgerald has been so kind as to welcome me to the parish community. I enjoy swimming and going on long walks – when I am not buried under my books, that is!” I know that all will give Fr. Carlo the usual Saint Columbkille hospitality when he arrives. _ RCIA… The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults will start up again this fall.
