The story takes place in 1960 when Gordon Lachance, now a famous
novelist in his thirties, is a 12- year-old boy living in the town of Castle
Rock, Maine. He and his three friends ( Chris Chambers, Teddy Duchamp
and Vern Tessio) usually spend their summer holidays around in their
treehouse playing cards and generally goofing off. One day they find out
where the corpse of Ray Brower( a boy of their own age who apparently
had got hit by a train) is and go out to take a look at it.
They face the dangers on their way and they begin to learn what it is to
grow up. Afterwards, nothing will ever be the same for them again.
